Control of Thinking
The control of thinking evident in the case study concerns changes implementation. The manager was enlightened that the organization has over seven thousand employees, but only sixty suggestions are collected every year. The idea means the tool was unhelpful to the organization, and amendments were needed. The manager had to come up with a better idea of how efficiency would be increased in the organization. Control of thinking is necessary as it makes parties view aspects differently, and through reasoning and proper assessment, better actions are taken. It also makes one understand the causes of problems in the workplace, leading to better effects.
Focus
Focus is noted in the case study, where the manager decided to ensure creativity in the workplace. In doing this, the suggestion box was eliminated because it did not contribute to the focus. Besides, Leistikow directed the managers to commit to applying a new design every four months. As noted in the case, having a focus is vital due to several reasons. One is improving communication and operations in the organization. The leader was determined to aim at the creativity and explained to other managers the importance of the aspect. The managers then reached the workers who implemented the idea yielding great results. It implies that focus makes people cooperate and work as a team increasing chances for meeting the set objectives. More so, focus makes the decision-making process easy and fast. For example, after the senior manager realized the suggestion box was unhelpful the idea of having meetings with workers was easy to be implemented.
Program Design
The program design is where people develop an activity meant to achieve specific goals. The design needs a title, like in the case stated as the ‘golden idea’. It is necessary for guiding the parties involved in the purpose and outcomes expected. Even without much explanation, the employees understand the goal of the program because of the title. Nevertheless, explaining to them is essential to ensure commitment. The numbers set in the design should be applicable. The manager held meetings of 20 employees each time, enabling secure interaction and the development of the needed ideas.
Summaries and Conclusion
Summaries and conclusion aspect is noted in the case study when the top managers collected the ideas raised and select the best. Here, proper assessment should be done to pick the ideas helping the company attain its goals and objectives. As noted in the case, the selection was made from the employees’ insights, which made them feel valued by the management. It also lowers instances of resistance, and instead, the change implementation process is smooth.
Control and Monitoring
After the implementation, control and monitoring are needed to integrate the practices into the organizational culture. It also makes the company assess performance to determine the necessary actions. The tool is noted in the case study were customer care is improved, and the green hat suggestions included. They enable the leaders to collect feedback from both the customers and the employees necessary in assessing performance.
