Week 3: Discussion Question 2 (Choose one article)
Study 1: Course content related to chronic wounds in nursing degree programs in Spain.
Brief Description of Method Employed:
Study 2: Health empowerment among immigrant women in transnational marriages in Taiwan.
Brief Description of Method Employed:
The research employed the qualitative method, precisely the participatory action plan. During the process, sixty-eight women were subjected to in-depth interviews, and their corresponding responses recorded. The interviews were in the form of semi-constructed questions. These questions would be used to provoke and extract emotions and feelings from those who were interviewed. The other method applied in the collection of first-hand data was observation. A literature review was then done to establish activities that had already been done. It also made it possible to synthesize the data that was collected.

Comments about the data collection
The study was undertaken in Taiwan. The primary purpose of its conduction was to discover health issues facing immigrant women. Theory-based approaches were then used to intervene in established health factors. |
Step 1
Planning | This stage involves the deliberations of the Participatory Action Plan. The research question was then addressed by linking it to the health needs of the participants. This was identified based on previously conducted literature. The process of establishing the plan involved stakeholders from the community. They also played a role in ensuring that community resources were used in the study. |
Step 2
Collection of data | Qualitative methods of data collection were employed at this step. This was through observing and conducting interviews. There was a delegation of roles within each research team. One individual was tasked with the purpose of performing the interviews while the other recorded them. |
Step 3
Analysis of the data | The collected data was used for thematic analysis in examining various qualitative notable themes as given by each participant. The researchers applied the code to each transcript, where data reading and analysis took place. Verbatim transcripts of all the interviews conducted created 36 units (Yang, Wang, Lee, Lin & Lin, 2015). |
Step 4
Literature synthesis and consultation | This was done before the actual research. The aim was to establish the underlying problem. This was possible by considering the works of other scholars in the region. The evaluation of the theoretical literature brought to light the research gap. |
Step 5
Ethical considerations | The research was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Kaohsiung Medical University. The purpose of this was to ascertain the participants of their integrity and confidentiality of the information they provided across the research process—the organizers of the research adhered to the guidelines and procedures as approved by the institution. |
Conclusion:
The research established that married individuals were very susceptible to the area hence recommending more action plans in the region to curb the health issues. Regarding the immigrants, they felt excluded from society as a result of how health was being availed to them. The findings of the research extrapolated that the four thematic expressions are vital in society. This includes expanding the level of health education, enabling capacity building for social networks as this would help integrate the immigrants within the community, promotion of the self-worth of all the people of Taiwan and enhancing psychological resilience for every individual, inclusive of immigrants (Yang, Wang, Lee, Lin & Lin, 2015).
