Covid 19 and our mental health

Covid 19 has changed people’s lives all over the world. With the daily schedules changed, wearing off protective gear, isolation, and containment people’s lives are not the same. Quarantine and confinement separate and limits the movement of individuals who got exposed to the infectious disease to prevent the disease from spreading (Duhé, 2020). Everyone has gotten forced to get in line with a specific routine. The measures produce a wide range of psychological effects for example depression, confusion, and even post-traumatic stress.

This pandemic has got many people to lose their jobs. The feeling of loneliness and boredom can affect one’s mental health. The stigma that is also brought forth to the people who contracted the disease can cause mental illness to them (Duhé, 2020). They are not allowed access to their loved ones and any other social relationships. They change in normal routines can create tension in families and individuals. Even the children who got used to going to school are stressed because of a change in their routine and they cannot go to school. Many people are also concerned with life after the pandemic.

The measures that have got addressed by the World Health Organization have been proven to be effective in reducing exposure to the disease. The use of alcohol-based sanitizers and cleaning surfaces regularly (Duhé, 2020). Also wearing masks and keeping a distance from other people. Making sure you are safe can lead to eradicating the disease faster than one can imagine. The isolations have basic needs and medication enough to benefit the people who contract the disease. People can also engage themselves in activities that make them happy to avoid depression or even stay in touch with family members through social platforms.
