Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) requires proper management to ensure the patient fully recovers from the respiratory infection that puts his breathing capability in danger. The treatment of a covid-19 patient required me to introduce myself to the patient in terms of qualifications and how I will help the patient recover fully. It was essential to ensure the patient does not feel scared of dealing with a stranger. Despite being in protective gear, the entire face mask allowed the patient to see me effectively. The treatment plan involved taking personal data of the patient and keeping it electronically. No other person accessed the information except those related to the treatment plan. According to Shen et al., 2019, it was important to protect the identity of the patient away from public information.
The treatment involved managing the symptoms that are associated with covid-19. The use of the ventilator solved the breathing problems was important in ensuring that the patient was not experiencing the problems anymore. The care involved boosting the immunity through adequate consumption of food rich in vitamins. Fever management was successful, with the patient experiencing decreased sweating. Besides, regular engagement of the patient to give the individual psychological support was prioritized. The patient was allowed to be visited with one family member under my guidelines. The family member could only engage with the patient for 30 minutes before allowed to leave the isolation room. It was important to enable the patient to not to be depressed as it created a normal living condition that facilitated easy recovery from the infection.
The treatment goals were achieved in various ways. The infection was contained effectively with no transmission cases between the personnel who were involved in the medication, including the room cleaners and other assistant nurses. According to Panagioti et al., 2018). The most crucial element in the treatment of any patient is patient satisfaction. The patient was satisfied with the way the staff handled the treatment plan that helped the individual recover. It made the important part of the treatment as the patient felt that he was granted autonomy through the medical treatment decisions. According to Dooley and Susan, 2018, freedom of the patient helps in attaining easy cooperation between the nurse and the patient to attain an easy recovery program.
