Jossie and the Magical Jar
Jossie and the Magical Jar
On the rising of the full moon one evening, a baby boy is born in the little village of magicians. This is symbolic of Twirl village. Traditionally, the full moon is associated with great powers in the village, and everyone yearned for the first day of the full moon. On this day, the magical powers are believed to be at their peak, and the villagers can do everything they want with their magic. It is this day that their abilities increase if one concentrates on increasing them and improving their expertise in the various fields. Every member of the community is talented, and it is the multiple talents that distinguished the clans.
Jossie was born in the clan of healers, the group of people who had powers to heal and get the cure to any illness. The clan was tasked with keeping the community safe from all infections using their magical powers. For those that had defense powers, they were tasked with protecting the village from all external attacks. Being born on the eve of the full moon in the village was therefore associated with some messianic powers. This meant that Jossie would be a great savior to the people come one day. There were very high hopes instilled in the people, and therefore, the people celebrated till dawn. Traditionally, the grandfather was responsible for blessing the child and bestowing the expected powers on them on the night of birth. The case was not any different from Jossie. His grandfather, Chikawa, came and, as expected, came with a jewel to bless the child.
The jewel was supposed to be carried by the child all the days of his life. The gift was a little transparent jar with a green liquid. It was supposed to be hung around the neck like a necklace and never to be removed. According to the grandfather, the solution was a composition of the most potent concussion that could heal even the deadliest disease. The grandfather was the best magician and healer in the village; therefore, the words were highly observed. In times of plagues and pandemics, he could always be counted on to offer the cure. Having been born in a spectacular birth, the powers possessed by Jossie were expected to be extraordinary.
The child grew tremendously, and once he was five, the grandfather started training him on the ways of the people and how he could use the powers he already had. He was so sharp and first at grasping the various concepts, and this motivated the grandfather. They would spend most of their time in the forest, learning the different trees and doing the exposition of their medical characteristics. Jossie had surprising powers as he could smell a leaf and tell the medicinal value, just from the smell. With time, he was tasked with discovering the combination of trees that were used in making up the concussion by the Chikawa. This was the most significant task and test to make sure that he had a perfect grasp of the concepts. This was also done to test the ability of the child.
On the discovery of the various trees, the grandfather was done with the training at around the age of twelve. Jossie was ready to take up the skills and put them into practice in helping the people. The village was facing a massive challenge as the neighboring communities had already become industrialized and were quickly consuming the resources around them. After exhausting the resources within their reach, the people started exploring the forest for wood to fuel the industries and other raw materials for the industries. Soon they were cutting off the trees without any considerations or even asking for permission from the villagers. The village defenders were overwhelmed by the use of modernized weapons and their tactics and soon gave in to the fight. This was the worst they could have done. At the age of 17, Jossie was a stunning muscular young man, full of vigor and confidence. It was time to protect the village, or everything could be lost. He thought over and over again and came up with an idea. As the people cut down the trees, he decided to mark the trees that were out of reach and set strict policies for defense.
For a short while, the invaders respected the terms, but after a while, they were running out of options and could no longer respect them. They began cutting down the prohibited trees and killed anyone who tried to stop them. This provoked him at a time when the village needed him most. The water sources were already poisoned, and the people were left with minimal sources of water. The most significant catchment areas had been brought down. He consulted his grandfather for advice, and he was told to use his magic. The liquid in the jar was an everlasting one, one that could refill on usage. He was to use the same to treat the water and the same to harm the enemy. He poured a drop of the liquid at the base of each remaining tree to prevent more harm to the trees.
The liquid was meant for the nourishment of the trees and harm to the enemy. Once a drop of the pulp from the trees fell on the enemy, the body could decompose from that point. It served as the messianic fluid to the village when the defenders’ magical powers could no longer function. The invaders were forced to look for alternative solutions to the need for raw materials after realizing the harm they were causing to the village. The people quickly reforested the place and were back to their lives and traditions. Jossie was ever since revered and respected as the village protector.
