CrossFit Equipment – These are six devices you need

What do you need to have the right CrossFit equipment for your training?

The CrossFit equipment consists of a kettlebell, pull up rings, and some more.CrossFit equipment is not that unusual – but it can be used to achieve amazingly fast results. First of all, you need a proper sportswear. As with any fitness sport, the CrossFit athlete relies on breathable clothing and sturdy shoes. Anyone who brings this with them is well equipped for a workout in the CrossFit Box. We always work with the best CrossFit equipment: kettlebells, pull-up rings, medicine balls, jump ropes, bars. What this is and how we use it in daily training, we introduce you here:

Newcomers to the CrossFit world, in particular, often wonder what equipment they need. In this blog post, we reveal where investment is worthwhile.

dress

Shorts, tights, tops, t-shirts make sure that your clothes are comfortable and do not restrict your movement during training. The optimal choice of clothing can vary depending on personal preferences and temperatures. Wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in!

Shoes

Shoes, in particular, can be crucial for the CrossFit, as a wide variety of exercises are carried out. Running, weightlifting, box jumps, gymnastics,  CrossFit places various demands on your shoes. When it comes to the heel height, make sure that you do not have a very high heel height compared to the height of the sole on the toes, as is usually the case with running shoes. The flatter the pump, the more stable you can stand on the floor, especially when lifting weights. Because it should be avoided that the heel lifts off the ground, a certain amount of cushioning is pleasant for running or jumping, while a harder sole is ideal for lifting weights. An all-rounder like a CrossFit shoe should be in the middle. Typical shoes that are very suitable for WOD’S and daily training would be the Reebok Nanos or the Nike Metcons. These are ideal for jumps, short runs, and also for weight lifting. It is best to test a variety of models and make a few jumps and air squats before buying – then you will quickly feel whether the shoe fits, is comfortable and meets your requirements. Anyone who likes to lift weights often can also benefit from special weight lifting shoes. However, these are by no means a must for beginners!

Brains

At the latest, after the 100 pull-ups in Murph, it is clear to so many that hands have their limits. Especially with CrossFit, these are increasingly used by pull-ups, toes to bars or muscle-ups. It is best to invest in a pair of suitable braces that protect your hands and give you a good grip on your workout.

knee socks

Deadlifts or rope climbs may bleed quickly on the shins. Knee highs or special shin guards can help. If you take part in CrossFit lessons regularly, you may be faced with this problem frequently, and your legs will thank you for the investment!

Knee supports

Knee supports to keep the knee warm, improve blood circulation, protect the knee from impacts (for example, in the case of lunges) and stabilize it. Knee bandages are by no means a must but can be helpful for people with (old) injuries or problems with the knee joint. Optimally, the dressing should end about 5cm above and below the knee and fit correctly. Neither too tight nor too loose. You will usually find detailed instructions in the product description of what you should measure to find the perfect size. In addition to knee bandages, there are also hand bandages, which can also help with problems with the wrist and provide stabilizing support. With us in the box, you will find a wide variety of high-quality equipment potentials from good brands, which we can only highly recommend. If you have any questions, it is best to contact the counter. We are pleased to help you!

  1. CrossFit Equipment: Kettelbells

Kettlebells are a popular part of the CrossFit equipment. As the name suggests, it is a spherical weight. Kettlebells have a handle at the top and are flattened towards the bottom. They are used in a variety of ways in the CrossFit-WOD exercises. They enable us to do activities that take up the entire body.

There are various exercises with this part of the CrossFit equipment, for example, Swings (in German: Schwingen), Snatch (in German: tear), or TGU (Turkish Get Up). With the swings, the kettlebells are held by the handle with both hands (optionally also with just one side) and lifted from the hips. Such is possible using a swing from the bone above the head. Snatch is a relatively similar exercise. The ball dumbbell stands on the floor and is brought over the head with only one hand and also with the swing from the hip. In addition to strength, this exercise also requires endurance and will train your fitness. With the TGU (Turkish Get Up), a kettlebell is held over your head while you move from a lying position to a standing position and back again.

  1. CrossFit Equipment: Pull up rings

The pull-up rings are rings hanging from the ceiling. They are used for pull-ups or muscle-ups. In both exercises, the athlete tries to lift himself on the rings.

  1. CrossFit Equipment: medicine ball

The medicine ball is a ball that is available in different weight classes. CrossFit performs various exercises: run with the medicine ball (several hundred meters) and throw the medicine ball against the wall with force (in several repetitions). The medicine ball in the Windshield Wiper (windshield wiper) over the head from one side of the body brace or situps and squats with a medicine ball.

  1. CrossFit Equipment: Jump Rope

Jump ropes are jump ropes. So-called “single under” (which are pure rope swings) or “double under” (double swings of the line per jump) are usually used with jump ropes. This exercise trains the whole body, especially the calves, and strengthens your endurance.  Few athletes can already jump “triple under” continuously.

  1. CrossFit equipment: bar

Barbells are weights. The body muscles are trained on dumbbells, both with maximum strength and with muscle endurance exercises.

  1. CrossFit equipment: barbell

In German, the bar means a barbell. Here you train muscle-ups, toes to bar or pull-ups.
