From the beginning of the novel, gender stereotype is a major issue in this society because the Filipinos believe that all those who go out are spoil and likely to get kids before they are legally married. Due to social interactions, the Filipino mothers are faced with the challenge of ensuring their girls do not interact with the white counterparts that they already consider are spoilt and have greater possibility of being impregnated before they get married due to their social interaction with boys whenever they go out for social events such as entertainment. The article illustrates the deep-rooted social issues that affect much society across the world in the modern world. There are still individuals that struggle to maintain their cultural identity within a diverse and cultural society.
