Declaration of Independence and 1776 movie
The principle of Declaration of independence is based on the idea that all men are created equal. According to Brannigan (2014), all humans are subjected to particular unalienable rights such as liberty, right to life and the right to pursue happiness. The Declaration of independence hence stipulates the importance of states and governments to support and embrace these principles towards its citizens. Important authors in history have inspired the writing of the Declaration of the United States by inspiring the core principles of the document. John Locke’s written work about the consent of the governed as well as George Mason about the rights of Declaration inspired the writing of the contents of the Declaration of independence (Goforth, 2019).
Slavery was an important theme that was depicted in the movie 1776. Slavery demonstrated the lack of equality in the population at the time. It championed the need for creating the principle of inequality, as demonstrated in the Declaration of independence. Greed for power created the need for fighting for independence from the colonial master’s and their delegates. The movie forecasted the drive for gaining liberty and independence as spelt out in the Declaration of Independence.
Equality, liberty and independence are very important components of the American people today. I think that it is important because the composition of Americans show multiple cultures that cannot live together without the value of equity. Similarly, the liberty and independence of the people are important because of the need for independence. Right to life is a natural right that everyone is entitled to and leading a happy life is critical to the existence of a person. John Dickinson and Edward Rutledge resisted the passing of the delegation. Rutledge resisted the ant-slavery in the original draft of Declaration. According to Laccarino (2016), the main reason for his resistance to the anti-slavery laws was his racial ideas. This resistance slowed the move towards the signing of the Declaration of independence. John Dickinson’s revolution was based on the idea that he wanted the British government to reconcile with the United States (Ushistory.Org, 2020)
