DEPRESSION

Depression is a known disorder worldwide; it is a disorder that has affected more than 264 million people all over the world. Depression is not the same with mood changing and short-lived emotional responses to hardship and challenges that happen daily in life. When there is long-lasting or severe intensity, depression might lead to a serious health condition. It can cause the victim to suffer from depression to start performing poorly in work, school, and also in the family. When depression is at its worst state, it can make a victim commit suicide.it is approximated that around 800,000 commit suicide yearly due to depression.

Despite the known effective treatments for these mental disorders, 76% and 85% of people in both low and middle-income families do not receive treatment for their mental disorder. The main reason why they do not receive effective care is because they lack resources, the social stigma that is associated to mental disorders and lack of health care providers. Other barriers, to their good and effective care is lack of good assessment. This means that countries will all level incomes, are not properly diagnosed, while others that do not suffer from this mental disorder are prescribed with antidepressants, that do not add up with what they are suffering from.
