Describe a Change Challenge Facing the Selected Organization to Sustain Success

The health care organization is experiencing technological change, which has raised different challenges in the organization. The organization needs to adapt and utilize, the new technologies to keep pace with the world’s dynamism and efficiently execute health care activities.  However, the lack of the required resources to execute the change has been a challenge. Funds will be required to train the employees on how to use the new machines and also pay the technical experts who will train the employees has been a challenge to the organization.

Moreover, the organization lacks enough resources to purchase new equipment needed or replace the existing one to cope with the new dynamism. Some equipment requires extra space; thus, the organization has to incur the cost of constructing a new room that will fit the equipment; thus, the company lacks the capital to implement the change. Updating the software, and its maintainers are cost-consuming processes; thus, the organization may lack the needed fund. However, the lack; of funds to incorporate the new technologies, drags the organization down and faces challenges in sustaining its success. The transition change from the previous to new technologies incur additional cost in the organization which is limited.

Knowledge about the change will help the employee understand the strategies of the change and its, motive.  On Kotter’s model of change, there is a need to create urgency for the change’s need to attract more employees to support the change. In the health organization, urgency may be created by educating the employees on outdated technology. The organization will not support growth; thus, some of the employees may lose their job. Additionally, if the technological change is not implemented in the organization, it will be impossible to attract funds from the government of a non-profit organization; thus, its growth will encounter challenges. Additionally, the implementation of new technologies such as artificial intelligence will help in easy accessibility of patient’s records or any medical data. Loss of patient may pose a severe threat to the medical staff since patient data is highly confidential.

Type of Change

Incremental change will best fit in the organization, since it involves gradual adjustments towards the target outcome. The type of change will favor the organization since it will be easier to implement the technological change in small adjustments.    Moreover, through this type of change, the organization will adopt an updated computer system for some computers to improve health activities’ efficiencies. The incremental change’s significance is that the software will be generated fast during the software lifecycle.

Incremental change will not significantly affect the current structures or interfere with the organization’s current methods. Creating awareness about the change will help the medical staff understand the importance of the change. Moreover, through incremental, change, the employees who will use the new systems may begin before the new system is implemented. The organization may change the patient recording system to electronic health records. Electronic health will help in easy accessibility and protection of patient’s data. Moreover, implementation of the system will enhance easy communication during a change of shift, such that the incoming nurse will have all the records of the patients. The system will reduce medication errors.

Adaptation of the new technology in the organization will decrease patients’ complaints in the organization; thus, the technology will close the gap. They were convinced the medical staff on the system’s advantages rather than the disadvantage will attract them to accept the change. They were creating a team from different health departments, which will insist other employees accept the change. The medical staff’s desire to participate and support the change was enhanced by promising that the employee’s job will not be lost.

Ways of Heightening Awareness

The organization may host educational events, which will help the employee gain a deep understanding of the change. Moreover, choosing the best communication channel in the change’s communication helps reach the change’s target medical staff. Early communication of the change helps employees to comprehend, need to change. Hosting social events with the target employee who will be affected directly or indirectly by the change will increase awareness since it will be easy to communicate the change. The development of change management skills for managers in different levels will help the management of the change. Communicating the change to each individual heightens awareness.
