Diagnostic Tests for Myasthenia Gravis

Some different tests and tools are used to diagnose Myasthenia Gravis, from which one of the most commonly used tests is a blood test. The test is done to determine the antibody produced by the immune system and respond to stop signals between the muscles and nerves. When the level of antibody becomes increased, then the patient is diagnosed with myasthenia Gravis. Neurological examination is being done to assess the reflexes, muscle tone, balance, muscles reflexes, coordination, and sense of sight and toughness. One other test used in different health care centers is called the “Edrophonium test.” In this type of test, a specific chemical named edrophonium chloride is injected into the body.

The symptoms of sudden and temporary improvement in muscle strength indicate the presence of Myasthenia Gravis. Edrophonium chloride blocks the enzyme that is responsible for breaking down acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is the chemical that transmits the signals to the muscle receptor sites. The imaging method can also be used for this purpose. It has been determined that MRI and CT scan determines any tumor in the body that is a significant indication of Myasthenia Gravis. The presence of a tumor or other abnormality in the thymus leads to the indication of disease.

Various diagnostic tests are being used in the literature, but I have selected just these three types of diagnostic test. One of the significant benefits of these tests is that these tests’ results come within one week. Thus diagnosis can be made quickly by this method. The diagnosis is essential for the proper treatment of the people. Therefore, these effective diagnostic methods would be used. The health care professionals need to give the patient results within time so that further treatment can be continued. Thus it has become clear that the diagnosis is essential for the proceeding of other treatment.
