different views concerning abortion

The abortion debate is such controversy which environs moral, legal as well as religious sections of inducing abortion. Abortion is one of the most painful discussions for women and men that find themselves who are in the dilemma of whether they should or should not terminate a pregnancy. In contemporary society, abortion is one of the critical moral issues where some people are on the other side and the others on the other side. Different people in the world have different views concerning abortion.

Talia Klein Perez’s perspective of abortion: should abortion be a viable option. Even though abortion has been viewed as a personal issue and procedure, it has been an issue of public and political debate.  The fact that the American Supreme Court in 1973 legalized abortion and many abortions have been done it has not silenced the debate. On the other hand, since Donald Trump, who opposes abortion, got elected is led to the introduction of laws that restrict abortion. Hence, with the increased number of anti-abortion laws that are sweeping in the United States, then one is left wondering on what direction the nation is moving towards. Should abortion remain a viable option for females that have unwanted pregnancies?

….. There are reasons why abortion is an option for women. Abortion is right since it involves making an adult decision. Parents have the responsibility and role of loving, caring as well as providing for their kids that are already brown and those that are not yet born (Goldenberg, 2017). But in the cases where the parent feels like they cannot be able to offer the child required physical, feeling, and finances, which they need to thrive and survive, then abortion is permissible. Hence, the decision of whether to carry out abortion is the parents’ right to make the adult decision. It could involve being responsible and prevention unborn toddler from getting into the world to suffer and have pain and neglect. It is easier to handle a pregnancy than it is in taking responsibility for taking care of an already born child. For a fact, in such cases and more so in rape cases, then termination of pregnancy is right than it is to keep the pregnancy.

Savulescu, & Schuklenk, 2017 states that at the moment where any action is declared to be illegal, then getting involved in it is integrally chancier and safer for the interested parties. Pregnancy has been made to be a legal option, and then this will not reduce the number of women’s trials of ending unwanted and unsafe pregnancies. The only variance that it can cause is that legalization would give a chance to women to carry out abortion safely and in a hedonic way reducing the risk of women being infertile (Savulescu, & Schuklenk, 2017). Placement of legal restrictions will only lead women in attempting to terminate their pregnancies on their own instead of seeking skilled service providers.

Mahon, 2016 mentions that it is clear that most religious parties have reinforced women’s multiplicative excellent. On the centrally, to a different interpretation of the bible that indicates that abortion is a sin, then there is no biblical text which gives direct prohibitions that are against termination. One cannot liken abortion to homicide from biblical scripture. For so long most of the religious rights have always dominated the public conversation when it comes to region and sexuality (Francome, 2017). But the fact is that people, through their faith, are now supporting access to contraception and deep sexuality education as well as reproductive healthcare, which also includes abortion (Mahon, 2016). For instance, RCRC is an interfaith movement that aims at protecting and advancing reproductive health, choice in addition to justice and rights through education and spiritual guidance.

On the other hand, different scholars argue giving reasons why one should say no to abortion. This is because there is the potential of life whether one believes or not that a fetus has life, then it cannot be denied that when conception happens, then there is always a potential for growth. Life happens to the strongest biological and psychological instincts, which acts as the foundation of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In all the uncertainties in this world, there is one certainty of life (Berg, 2017). Hence, bringing an end to life is an act which is against the biological and physical existence. The question is, who are we really that we can decide what lives and what ideas. Again, who are we that we take charge of a dependent unborn child and decide whether they are worth living or not regardless of their situation?

Further, people should say no to abortion since it leads to more medical complications. In most cases, all the women that go through abortion experience so many medical difficulties later in their life. An example of the study that was carried by the international journal of epidemiology in 2003 indicated that 15% of consecutive miscarriages which happen during the first trimester of pregnancy are said to have had cases of induced abortion (Nobis, & Grob, 2019). Further carrying out abortion increases risks of having ectopic pregnancies or other prevalence pelvic inflammatory diseases as well as breast cancer.

According to Berg, 2017, one should say no to abortion since the legalization of abortion does not replace the need for birth control use. In the case where couples engage in sexual intercourse, there is the likelihood of conception happening even when they are using contraceptive use. For example, for all women that en to for abortion in the British pregnancy, advisory services reportedly were using birth control during the time of their conception (Berg, 2017). Another fact is that 18 women out every 100 women that are using condoms as their birth control contraceptives are said to have conceived during their first year of condom use. Even though most women do not see abortion as a method of birth control for sure, it is.

On the other hand, the above views of abortion are affected by their faith and socioeconomic status. Religious beliefs and customs design people’s faith, so depending on the religious belief on something, those people get to interpret them. In the case where a religious group believes that there is nowhere in the bible that mentions that abortion is not right, then they can support that people should say yes to abortion in the cases in certain situations (Christensen, 2019). Further, they encourage that abortion should be done in situations that they cannot be controlled. However, in religious groups that believe that it is against their religious values to perform an abortion, then it shapes their view on abortion (Sheldon, 2016). They will state that one should know about abortion.

Further socioeconomic status of a person affects their view on abortion.   In cases where one a high social class, they are more likely to be against abortion. This is because they can afford to take care of the unborn child, both physically, emotionally, and financially. One of the leading causes of abortion is because of parent instability and uncertainties (Mayans & Vaca, 2018). Still, someone’s socioeconomic class determines whether they can afford other effective contraceptives or not. For instance, a well-educated person with high income and excellent occupation they can provide better and healthy contraceptives instead of going for abortion as the only option (Woodruff et al., 2018). And if they are to carry out an abortion, then they can afford a health process of abortion. Hence, one’s social, economic status can determine their view on abortion.

In conclusion, abortion has been a debate for discussion internationally. Different views have been presented with the justification of every view. Some support abortion, while others claim that one should say no to abortion. For instance, some authors state that abortion should be practiced since it involves an adult decision of the mother. If they feel they cannot cater to the child’s physical, emotional, and financial needs, then termination of the pregnancy gives a solution. They also mention that one is allowed to carry out abortion in the case where the bearer’s life is endangered. On the other hand, other authors and speakers state that one should say no to abortion since it leads to health complications.  Different factors indeed affected someone’s view on abortion, and these factors can include faith and socioeconomic factors.
