Discussion Board Criteria
Discussion Board Criteria – Participation in Discussion Boards is an important ongoing course requirement. Candidates are expected to read all course materials (i.e., text, lectures, and research) in preparation for participation in Discussion Boards.
Discussion Board responses should be concise and complete. They should pertain to the discussion, and include evidence that integrates concepts from the text, additional readings, research, and/or experience. The Discussion Boards have a total 25-point value for each week. Your response to the discussion board question/prompt should be 500-750 words and address all components required. Please respond to at least two of your classmate’s postings by Saturday of each week.
DISCUSSION PROMPT:
1) Discuss the reasons why American society today spends large sums of money annually on nutritional supplements and dietary plans that have little or no basis in scientific fact.
2) Discuss the relationship among nutrition, malnutrition, and learning in children.
DISCUSSION #1 THE NEED FOR SCIENTIFIC FACT
DISCUSSION # 2 _ NUTRITION AND LEARNING
Research on the web and choose any two (2) media links/videos relating to this week’s topics of study. After reviewing the videos, Submit the following:
- Summarize the content of each media file.
- Discuss your biggest “Takeaway” from each media file.
- How can you apply the new knowledge your life as it relates to nutrition?
- Copy the URL of the media file links you viewed at the bottom of your response.
Media Link responses should give unique detail of your individual “takeaways” and the application of the knowledge to your everyday lives. Although I don’t like to give you a specific length of response or word count, it is assumed you will fully answer each bullet noted above.
