- why was the public worry about the Coca-Cola company in this situation? Describe the “difference between performance and aspirations gap” found in this situation — how did the participants and their expectations vary from the company’s performance?
Because of Over-use water in places where there is a lack of water, functionaries of Coca-Cola tried to minimize the amount of water used in their processing. They found that they used more and caused environmental degradation than they expected. The general uproar from Indian societies surrounding their processing centers will entail questions about this situation. The Indian Government may take court action because it did not educate the public about the pesticides used in the process. The standards vary from the uncommon quantity of energy that they use as they plan to initiate water equality when they should be considerably smaller.
- 2. If you had to use this case for the strategic radar screens, which of the eight environments will be the most important?
- Geophysical will be the world seen by strategic radar screens.
- Since the situation involves mostly land and water, it will be geophysical for this purpose.
- Geophysical environment relates to the physical atmosphere.
- The company and the communities around them rely on organic materials such as water to function.
- Concerns of environmental damage and global warming cause the company to take action and re-evaluate their energy usage for more efficient production.
- Extend the life-cycle approach to this situation for task solving. What phase of the procedure of this situation do you identify?
- Coca Cola uses so much water in places where the local residents have no water.
- Analyze Issue- The company realizes that they consume too much water for the production process and it can be bad for the environment.
- Generate Options- Cocoa Cola Company comes up with the water equality initiative.
- Take Action- The plan involves three steps, reduce, recycle, replenish.
- Appraisal Findings- Coca Cola showed the water ratio decreased by 13 percent by 2011.
- How did TCCC strengthen its responses and the gains of the company’s contribution through the participation of stakeholders and dialogue?
In order to evaluate water conservation plans, Coca Cola researched and analyzed the global process. This has allowed them to find a solution for a wide range of knowledge. Their engagement with production plants and local officials led to their more energy and water efficient plan to cut back on waste of resources. By becoming more interactive with their factories, they are now more aware of their usage and the conditions of the areas that they are located in. The organization becomes more aware of shifts in sentiment and is able to alert the company in emerging issues.
- Did TCCC address this question properly, in your view? Why not? Why or why not?
I think the TCCC has contributed to the situation as best they should. This situation is very black and white in the sense that the problem is really clear and so it the solution. After realizing that TCCC was using too much water for production, all they had to do was really cut back on use. They did go the extra step with the recycling and proportioning of the water. Building water treatment facilities was also a big deal because it goes far outside from what the company normally does.
