Discussion Post: Application of IT in Radiology
Application of information technology in my project will play a major role in enhancing response time to the urgency of the patient’s health status to reduce the potential risks. Interventional radiology is a medical technique that specializes in blood vessel producers like fibroid removal, angioplasty, biopsy procedures, and angiography, among others (Moran, Burson & Conrad, 2017). It is thus a sensitive operation that requires accuracy and real-time response and client intervention by the medical practitioner. Research reveals that unnecessary deaths occur to patient undergoing interventional radiology due to delays in response rates (Snyder et al., 2018). In my project, considering the time of response to a patient who becomes unstable in the Interventional Radiology unit at New Medical Center, I would implement a real-time therapist system to monitor the behavioral changes of the clients. This system will allow the nurse specialist to respond to the patient’s state on time. The application of technology will reduce delays gap between patient assessment and intervention (Sylvia & Terhaar, 2018). This will reduce the risk of the occurrence of the unnecessary deaths of patients in the new medical care unit. However, I had a challenge in my implementation plans of the system for my DNP project in that I do not have proficient skills in programming. I thus plan to learn advanced programming techniques to be able to develop the real-time system.
PICOT Question
For the patients who become unstable in the Interventional Radiology unit at New Medical Center, does the implementation of an intradepartmental rapid response team impact the response time of emergency care for these patients over eight weeks?
Learning Paragraph
To achieve quality medical care intervention in the New Medical Center, I researched how to implement a real-time therapist system in interventional radiology. Real-time applications are capable of sending and receiving data instantaneously without manually requesting information (Harris et al, 2020). This will help to connect the doctor, and the patient to monitor vital as well as instantly streams of data to a database. Integrating feedback system will allow the intradepartmental rapid response team to act with an immediate effect. This will dramatically improve medical care intervention in the new center.
