Discussion Prompt 2
I went through the guidelines for APA recommended by West Coast University and learned essential aspects that are vital in academic research. I often had difficulties when referencing pages that lists no authors, and often write anonymous as the unnamed author. The WCU guidelines have improved my knowledge in writing in-text citations for web pages with no authors, and I have since learned that the title shifts to the first position of the reference entry. When the title has numerous words, however, only the first few words of the title are applied while referencing and double abbreviations used around the abbreviated title (American Psychological Association, 2020). One should use the web page’s full title when fort the parenthetical citation when it is short. For instance, a reference like “Most Cuban doctors perform are good in medication. (2013 September). Retrieved from: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39625809/ns/world_news-americas/. The in-text citation for the above reference should be (“Most Cuban doctors,” 2013).
Example of Direct Quotation from the rough draft:
“Evidence-based practice typically is defined as the integration of the best evidence available with nursing expertise and the values and presence of the individual, families, and communities who are served” (Breckenridge, 2011 p.251).
Example of Paraphrasing from the rough draft:
Mishel’s Uncertainty of Illness Theory assumes that the outcome of uncertainty can either have a positive or negative trajectory (Morrison, 2015).
