In nursing and medicine as a whole, there are many aspects involved in the learning process. This field encompasses a lot of sections, one being the Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNP). The DNP is a nursing degree program in the US. In the United States, there are two doctorate programs: the DNP and the PhD (Doctors of Philosophy). The aim of the DNP curriculum is to build on master’s programs and improving quality and system leadership(Paplham & Austin-Ketch, 2015). The clinical nurses are also prepared in the master’s program; however, on a rough estimate, only 51% of them will be provided with the DNP. The remaining 49% may use only the title.

DNP is one of the most preferred advanced learning programs in the field of nursing. It is continually growing in the United States, as many schools aim to move their nursing programs to a doctorate(O’Connor, 2015). A recent study done by the AACN indicated that there are mostly universal agreements in the nursing community on the importance of  DNP in the development of nurses to meet the future needs in the field of medicine(Kuerban, 2016). Although there are variables that come in the process as there are attempts to balance the needs of nurses in the future, the discussion in the DNP recently led to the need to clarify and restate on how advanced nursing practice should be defined. Although there has been an increased number of higher education in recent years as well as a massive growth of the DNP programs. In general, a professional transition of this volume has generated a number of questions and gave an opportunity for reflection.

The DNP implements task force with a white paper and directives to clarify some matters concerning the evolution of the doctorate nursing practice. The paper has some recommendations that explain the characteristics of DNP and give the required clarifications. It explains the DNP graduate’s scholarship and the project(Paplham & Austin-Ketch, 2015). There are also some recommendations for the graduates of DNP and a brief explanation of program length and use of resources. With that said, the DNP also has some requirements before one proceeds to do it. There are qualifications that one must have attained before doing the doctorate nursing practice.

The DNP is a crucial section in the field of medicine; hence, necessitating the plans to up the program for a better future. There are many plans put forward to ensure that the nurses in the future meet the required standard. There are plans for DNP graduates scholarship, and this will enable those who are not in position due to financial issues to do it if they meet the qualifications(Martsolf, Auerbach, Spetz, Pearson & Muchow, 2015). However, the focus is mainly on innovation and evidence-based. The scholarship will help in the providing of knowledge and skills within the discipline. This will ensure competitive research is done in the future regardless of the financial background.

The DNP prepares APNs in different ways and has greatly helped transform healthcare and solve complex health problems. Through research and innovation, the ANPs have been innovative and helpful in the health sectors; hence solving critical health matters has been done with ease(Greco, 2019). There has also been competence among the advanced practice nurses, which led to better delivery of tasks.  The DNP has played a crucial role in making the APNs better in the field of health. The DNP has brought significant advantages in health matters. It has enhanced collaboration; multiple workers from different professions can work together(Martsolf, Auerbach, Spetz, Pearson & Muchow, 2015)r. There is also an aspect of competence since there is a requirement of some qualifications before enrolling in advanced learning in nursing(Greco, 2019). The DNP has played a vital role in the betterment of the health section.
