Document Analysis

The readings allotted during class lessons were about sustainable development goals, COVID-19 and children protest. The articles gave a broader view about the three concepts. However, the contents are presented in a simple manner that is easily understandable to the students. Therefore, as requires, my easy will pivot towards analyzing the concepts of the articles. The essay discuss the concepts of COVID-19, sustainable development and children protest with the intentions of analyzing the three aspects in a more comprehensive pattern.

The article of COVID-19 is created based on the coronavirus-like response to the climate catastrophe. Both climate change and coronavirus are dangerous disasters that are capable of killing millions of people around the globe and deteriorating world economies. The society has combatively concentrated more on solving coronavirus than it has on climate change crisis. Climate experts are already that the unmatched approach to the two pandemics might surface a platform for more climatic disasters. To be more certain about the argument, a research interview was conducted amongst certain scientists and two of the results were as follows.  A social scientist Emily Grubert, acknowledges that the present crisis identifies how much the American society needs a methodical approach to responses to emergency disasters.  She claims that public officials have not controlled the spread of coronavirus but instead have only promoted certain practices such as suspending evictions.  In like manner, Grubert stated that climate policies should not only concentrate on controlling emissions. They should also focus on assistance to the most vulnerable population including the ones impacted on by pollution problems. She states the coronavirus is a way opener for such ideas and arguments. On the other hand, a climate policy researcher, Lea Stokes, identified the difference between climate change and COVID-19. She states that in an attempt to control the spread of coronavirus, people are staying at home. Young people, who are fond of socializing, are striving to stay at home to protect their grandparents and parents. Unlike in climate change, older generations are asked to be more responsible to create a comfortable environment for the younger generation by adopting practices such as driving less. Lea then concludes that the society needs to have such an inter-generational solidarity to be able to fight disaster.

The second document focuses on the post- 2015 sustainable development goals and how they have abandoned their environmental roots in the period where human activities are more influential on climate and environment.  Sustainable development goals were publicized in 2015 with an intention of making the world a better place as generated in 2030 agenda focused on a sustainable development. However, regardless of the clear directive generate economics, social and environmental measures and objectives in the Post-2015 SDGs; the status of ecosystem still stays under run in the most recent renewal of United Nations’ global development agenda.  The document also identifies economic, social and environment as the three significant drivers of sustainable development in a society.  In a more agreeable manner the three aspects of sustainable development are connected. Unfortunately, the connections are not properly development for a more tangible sustainable development. The article also identifies certain global problems such as the problem of fresh water and environmental health and provides solutions to the same.

The final article focuses on children’s protest implicating to the climate change, a study that promotes social and political changes. The article analyzes children’s hostilities implicating to climate changes and emergencies. The document is compiled through a restricted exploration of Greta Thunberg’s speeches as an advocate of climatic patterns. The article focuses on a series of children protests that have occurred since 2018 as a result of climate emergencies.  Greta, is a child activist for climatic changes, hence has been chosen to represent the ideas of other children in regards climatic change problems.  Greta mentions that the society should compliance with a new form of climate change resistance that significantly observed in children.  Normally, when it comes to climatic change resistance patterns the concentration has been usually pivoted towards the older generation. Children’s resistance has been ignored with various researches on resistances criticize children on their roles for development within the society. The article therefore highlights that from both sociology and political perspectives, focus should be on children’s’ resistance and political agencies. The article analyses that the study of environmental issues should be expanded on relations to how they impact on both the younger and older generations. It also acknowledges the fact the society needs to identify and familiarize with children resistance towards climate changes so that they can generate appropriate solutions.

In conclusion, the three articles discusses on the most significant aspects of societal experiences.  The first article discusses about coronavirus and climate changes. It explains that coronavirus crisis as created tension in United States in a manner that other disaster such as climatic changes tends to be neglected. Some Americans therefore thinks that the unmatched responses to the two disasters might generate a platform for further destructions of climate change consequences. A second article discusses about post-2015 sustainable development goals and how they have neglected their roles in during a period when human activities are more destructive to the environment and climate. It highlights that the society as not been able to to generate proper connection between, economics, social and environmental aspects-which essential for sustainable development. Finally, the article on children protest towards climate change identifies the fact that the society has not been focusing on societal roles of children on issues such as climate change resistance. The three articles therefore focus there attention on climate-related aspects in the society.
