Does technology promote loneliness?

Technological effects are in almost anything around the person. Products and services have improved, new business ventures and job opportunities created, development of social amenities such as structures and roads, improved governance by making government services available online, and creating new products and services, among others. Almost everything has a touch of technology, which has led to improved living standards and improves daily. Changes in technology are constant changes that everyone must live with today. One thing that does endure, despite such setbacks, is a remarkable optimism about the ability of information and its related technologies to change the social world for the better, (John & Paul, 11). The strength of te4chnology to make a future better world can quickly become a thing of the past.

Technology helps people from different regions and of a mixed-race to interact. When in the states using social apps, found on a mobile phone or computer makes it faster to have a link with a person in another continent. With technology, distance does not matter. Due to different circumstances, some countries are more developed than others, and you will find people from one nation going to another in search of things like medication. Through technology, it becomes easier to contact one’s family to keep them updated on the daily occurrence. This situation makes it easier for the family of the patient to be less anxious and fearful. Facebook’s connectivity project ‘internet.org,’ the people connected by it are doing well in academics, business, and living a healthy life, (John & Paul 14). Loon, a new project spearheaded by Google, has characteristics that will help diminish physical and emotional distance. The project’s vision is to help people from less developed countries to educate themselves and create connections.

There are two different types of people when it comes to socializing; those that are social and those that are antisocial. It is not easy for an antisocial person to make friends or give an opinion about a particular topic of discussion. With the advancement in technology creation of online communication, groups such as WhatsApp groups helps people interact freely without fear of attracting a lot of attention.  People believe that those with autism are technological geniuses. People with autism are associated with computing, especially programming (Bishop 3). Through social technology, they manage to choose friends online with traits they prefer hence avoiding loneliness.

There is plenty of social talks around the world. When faced with a severe challenge, it is faster to get help through social media. For example, on twitter, there is always a trending subject that affects people socially, economically, or politically. The topic only starts with one person then transforms into a discussion with a lot of people giving different views and opinions. “Mark Zuckerberg has written about the social mission of Facebook. This socializing starts small, he noted, with two people, the fundamental unit of society. Quickly, it grows to 800 million,1 billion connections” (John & Paul 20). technological connections help participate in discussions of intermediate social units; families and neighborhoods, corporations and unions, cities and states, nations and cultures, religions, and communities.

Technology creates an opportunity for partners in a relationship to misinterpret each other, creating barriers in problem and solving and intimacy development. Activities such as online gaming are addictive and may disrupt intimacy activities. The other partner tends to feel unwanted and start developing negative feelings like jealousy. A lot of divorce cases in 2015 mentioned Facebook as part of their reason to divorce, and the concern was sending inappropriate messages to the opposite sex. It is not easy to access a partner’s computer, and phones locked with strong passwords creating trust issues (Katherine 1). Not knowing what is on a partner’s phone leads to investigation, which hints at the discovery of infidelity activities. Social networking sites allow partners to comment on partner’s photographs, send private messages, and chat online without doing so may arise conflict. If a wife posts a picture on her Facebook page, and the husband does not send a comment, then a dispute arises.
