Donald Trump
Donald Trump has redefined the presidency. In foreign policy, Donald Trump has taken the frontline in protecting the Americans from being exploited by foreign countries. He is always hesitant in making deals that do not favor Americans in any means even when they have a good relationship with the country involved. Trump is focused on the economic benefit of the Americans. He even went to the extent of asking some countries like Japan and Saudi Arabia to pay them for protecting their nations. Trump also prioritizes security in his foreign policy. Trump has strengthened the military by increasing the budget allocated to defense. Trump is enthusiastic in the war against terrorism even across borders (Schweller, 2018). He stressed on the use of torture to get information from any suspected terrorist even though the minister of defense criticized the method. Trump has also issued travel bans to ensure the security of American citizens. Trump has indeed transformed foreign policy to protect the interests of the Americans. He has also improved the foreign policy to ensure that America gets the best out of every deal.
Trump has a significant impact on the Republican Party. Trump has managed to transform the Republican voters’ attitude towards Russia. For a very long time, Russia has not been considered as a friend to the United States. Donald Trump, however, changed the notion of Russia being an enemy by creating a rapport with the sitting president which was a bold move. Donald Trump has also changed the perception of some Republicans on tariffs. Some Republicans viewed tariffs as a bad thing, but the percentage has drastically dropped since Trump’s presidency. Trump has also used social media to connect with his supporters. Usually, government officials use their social media platforms to pass official information only, but as for Trump, it is a different scenario. He posts his thoughts on various issues on his social media platform, and by posting frequently, he has managed to keep trending. Trump has indeed had a positive impact on the Republicans and therefore has improved the party by managing to pull voters to his line of thought.
