In 2019 mark were driving from a football game 11pm at night me and my former roommate. The game was very good that day because I remember that he could not stop talking about it. On our way, we came across an accident between two cars. The road was clean there was nobody who had passed in that route for some time because the people involved in the crush were still in their cars unconscious and other crying in pain. I remember how my friend stopped and went out of the car and started to help them. I was left in the car calling for help of the ambulance and the police. A few minutes later the police came along with the ambulance and took the injured in the hospital. Luckily there were no fatalities in the accident but there was a serious injury by one of the drivers. The polices conducted an investigation and identified that the driver from one of the cars which caused the accident was highly drunk which made him get asleep while driving and the car moved from his lane that was when the accident happened. The driver was released after paying the fine of $500 for driving under the influence of the alcohol. the accident have placed some fear in me about driving because you can be carefully driving but the accident may still occur to you because some drivers drive under the influence of the alcohol. the accident may cause loosing of the life.
I think that drinking and driving crime should be treated with utmost seriousness. This is because it causes loss of life. According to the national highway traffic administration in 2019 the drinking and driving was responsible for 36% of all accident fatalities were more than 21670 victims lost their lives and more than 100000 suffered either minor or major injury from drunk driver based accidents. The reason why this crime continue developing is because the law is not strict on it. The punishment is too soft. I think that the punishment should be loss of license accompanied by long term serving of jail without bail. This way the trend of drinking will be discouraging to the society therefore accident will reduce.
