A decision tree is a tree-like model tool for various decisions outlining the consequences, cost, and the general outcome. The decision tree diagram has some conditions of different situations and the outcomes of the applied decisions. The tree helps in sub-dividing the main problem and achieving the most effective decision towards solving the major problem at hand. This is a method commonly used to analyze and decide on opportunities by lawyers, statisticians, business people and mostly the entrepreneurs among others.
For one to analyze a certain object using the decision tree, there are various things involved. First, the person starts with the main problem at the head of the board. What follows is subdividing the main object or problem into other avenues through which the answer may be reached at. From the main object, an arrow or line is drawn to the subdivided entities forming something like a flow chart. The lines represent the conditions of either cost or possibilities. The chain thus continues to the most ‘minute’ level in a way that the person will have reached some resolutions concerning the main problem. From the tree like a tool, the person will be able to way different decisions and come up with a conclusive decision on what to do.
The decision tree is one of the best methods of evaluation since it gives the decision finder the most individual final decision. The chart moves from a broad view to the finest view providing the person with the best option among very many decision options. Compared to the other tools of decision making, the decision tree is a simple tool to understand and requires very minimal preparation. It is an analysis tool that anybody can adopt due to its simplicity since it only depends on the results and conditions.
