Effects of Corona Virus
The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the world in less than a year. It has affected individuals, countries, and companies as well. Newly discovered viruses cause COVID-19 disease. The disease spreads through touching surfaces with the virus, then touching the eyes mouth and nose. As an individual, the corona has affected my studies, finances, and led to the loss of friends and family.
Coronavirus has led to the loss of loved ones. Lots of people have lost their friends and family who suffered from the disease. The greatest challenge with fighting the disease is because it is easily spread from a victim to a healthy individual. Fighting corona is like fighting an unseen enemy. I have lost family and friends to the virus. The turning point is when I lost my dad a month ago. It is the most painful experience, which has left a permanent mark in my life. When he passed away, I had just been released from hospital after a two-week involuntary quarantine. Apart from losing my dad, my two younger siblings have contracted the disease. It is even worse because I cannot visit them. When my father died, they could not as well attend the burial. One of the surest ways to protect our loved ones is to self – quarantine to avoid associating with infected people.
Coronavirus has significantly affected the world economy. It is now relatively hard for people to buy and sell goods and services due to the ban on traveling. Due to the increase in the number of people in the world who have the virus, countries continue to ban any planes entering their nations. This has affected businesses, including mine. I sell and ship mobile phones to my customers globally. It is not possible to deliver goods to customers due to lockdown. Besides, the risk of contracting the disease is so high. Governments have given directives for companies to close down to avoid the risk of contracting the disease. It is hard for such companies to continue paying employees when they are barely making any money. As one of the people affected, I am experiencing financial constraints. It is hard to cater to my bills in such difficult times.
Many schools have closed down globally. As a measure to reduce infections, students are no longer going to school to allow them to stay safe at home. It is, however, advantageous for learners who take online courses. On the contrary, other schools have closed down entirely. Due to the rising number of new coronavirus cases, it is uncertain when schools are likely to open. As a student, the issue has affected my studies and plan to complete school. The impromptu closing of schools has disrupted school curriculum and learning for my younger siblings too. The fear and anxiety of the corona tests turning out positive and the possibility of never going back to school is too much for them. Coronavirus has ended the dreams of so many young people who have succumbed to the illness.
During this coronavirus pandemic, so many people are suffering globally. It is hard for some people to feed their families, especially in developing countries. Unfortunately, there is still no specific cure for COVID-19. The only solution is for people to stay home and ensure high levels of hygiene to avoid contracting the disease. Even amid uncertainties, we should keep trusting that it will soon be over.
