Behavioural psychologists developed motivation theories to help organizations in the retention and recruitment of employees, and in administering fairness at the workplace. The Equity Theory of motivation by John Adams guides that the fairness levels motivate employees in an organization. In a real life situation, the theory can be established by ensuring fairness in the allocation of salaries according to the number of hours worked, and the responsibilities and duties assigned to an individual. An advantage of the equity theory is that it unifies the organization through equal treatment and valuation of employees. A demerit of the theory is that it is tedious and difficult to establish what is fair and the person to determine what is equitable when motivating employees since human perception is flawed. Elements of equity theory include typical inputs by the employee such as experience and job skills, and outputs by the employer, such as promotion and insurance.

To determine the operational life of an organization, its performance is measured using various elements. The performance of an organization can be measured using its level of profit generation. Achievement of goals is a measure that gauges the success in performance of the organization. Sales and market share of the organization is studied to rate the level of performance by the employees. The customer service measure is used to gauge the provision of services by an organization to its customers; this can also establish the performance by the management and employees. Other performance measures include holistic measures, productivity, and subjective estimates of financial measures. High profits and productivity, and good customer service satisfy me as an employee.

A good organization motivates its employees to achieve the set company goals and objectives. An organization can motivate its employees by offering them opportunities to advance in their ranks at the workplace; this is a great motivator. Employees also get motivated through provision of incentives for extra responsibilities and workmanship.

In conclusion, motivation is a vital aspect for any organization that seeks to achieve its goals and objectives.
