Erica’s Discussion 1
Introduction
The bid to comprehensively understand the complex nature of human brains and its function in terms of how it responds to various stimuli spawns a myriad of studies. The researcher argues that the human brain’s first instinctive and paramount factor that engineers its functioning is food, shelter, and sex (Myers & DeWall, 2020). Intriguingly, the human brain can be programmed to function in a particular way according to the wish it is subjected to. David and Nathan, in their arguments, say that the human brain can be easily understood by looking at outward human behavior since it is psychologically controlled by brain coordination.
Real-life experience
From what I have read in chapter one, it is truly reflecting on some of the personal experiences. For instance, the case of the two girls involving in competitive swimming and various instrumental lessons is a replica of my love experiences. During my childhood stages, my meagre understanding of life was that no one should have occupied a better position in classroom work than me. This particular experience lasted through my various developmental stages along with my academic process. This particular behavior was reinforced by several factors like teachers and the moral support from friends in class. Later when I advance to a higher level of academic, I could accommodate the fact that in a competition we have a chance of winning and losing. Psychological development, therefore, is not only something that comes from cognitive development of an individual but it is contributed with the environmental interaction. Through various developmental stages, parents play a critical role. Some of these vital roles are socialization and general development, for instance, when a child is brought up by a parent keeping a hygienic condition at high levels, that child will grow up knowing that hygiene of a high level is paramount in every aspect of life.
Furthermore, the above topic is also evidence that human is curious and competitive by nature. The competition is out of an intuitive urge to secure a better position for one. The various proponents of the psychological theories claim that the profound knowledge of humanity emanates from psychology, and the cognitive development of mind undergoes several stages wherein each stage, the environmental adaptation, is assimilated into the psychological development processes. During the childhood developmental stages, an individual critically analyses their environment using the images and the word in terms of symbols (Myers & DeWall, 2020). The acquired knowledge from the inferred meaning in symbols in the environment is applied in daily life experiences.
According to the chapter material, something to conditionally learn permeate the various psychological processes to adopt a given condition .my personal experience is that competition is something from the environmental factors. Allegorically these environmental factors are like the competitors’ friends who conditionally posed a threat of competition until it becomes part of the psychological process.
