Ethnic Studies

Question 1

With ethnocentrism feature an individual tends to speculate and judge other coalitions as well as their way of life in the society. Therefore, ethnocentrism differentiates persons as they all pose unique perspectives. Notably the ethnocentrism feature results to competition of individuals as they try to stand out in the society. Hence competition can be contemplated as being the struggle that exists over available scarce resource (109). Perhaps, the ideology in this case might be considered to be the scarce resource in the community. Presumably competition that emerge between two or more groups result to existence influencing feelings; that is, a sense of harshness and persecution actions. In fact, due to established competition every individual person or a group involved might want to emerge the most power. Hence, the power ability is that which makes a group or individual to oppose the others and stick to objectives laid.

Reflecting on the black community versus the Whites, the former group would be considered inferior. Sadly, the such a group is considered to hold minor status and would be referred to as coalition that is colonized minorly. Of course, the minority colonized groups will be assigned to roles that exploit them such slavery (111). Surprisingly, the minority colonized groups will be totally rejected in the society. On the other hand, the immigrant groups of minorities are partially considered and handle less harsh experiences. That is, they have the opportunity to propose their host society despite pressure for migration. I would say with certainty that indifferences between the communities are based on race. Or why would the black communities be more persecuted as compared to the Whites in the United States?

Question 2

Institutional discrimination be viewed to exist in the society structure each day. I must admit that, almost every operation in the society is occupied with institutional discrimination. Notably, inequality patterns of discrimination exist in the American minority groups; thus, indicating the racial stratification. Would there be minimal discrimination if racial differences did not exist? I feel racial discrimination is the most key aspect of institutional persecution in the society today, particularly in the United States. The Institutional discrimination in the modern times would therefore imply to persecution of minority groups in which the currently lag behind. Hence, the latter would include inequality measures in terms of employment, income and legal measures, for both genders (167). Although the minority groups are able to secure various positions in the society, their voices do not have much impact in the modern discrimination.

The form of discrimination that in existed in the traditional days was based on social status. Hence, minority groups could hold vital positions in the society. In fact, they could be treated as the most vulnerable groups and thus used as source of labour in slavery. However, both modern and traditional discrimination differ. Hence in the modern days, minority groups will have acquired status in the society but cannot make any impact in decision making. On the other hand, traditional discrimination put people under no social status and at the same time they could not play a role in decision making. Perhaps, it would be accurate to say that the minority group welfare is less significant in both modern and traditional days. Maybe modern discrimination is just and advancement of past discrimination in the institution.

Question 3

Techniques of labour-intensive in agriculture are aimed on labour and land control. Therefore, paternalistic indicates manipulation of forces of labour in the society to perform unique tasks in the field of agriculture. Therefore, paternalistic strategy can only be essential in a less industrialized economy; thus, labour rely on slavery not machines. Of course, slavery involve the minority groups; thus, paternalistic control aimed at such groups which might be considered relevant and more significant in the Agrarian revolution. Perhaps, it would be accurate to say that paternalistic control is less vital with industrialized economy in the society (141). That is, minority group control would not be relevant. Would it imply that, the minority groups are limited by industrialization? I would agree the latter is true since with the progress industrialization, the groups relations become rigidly competitive. Hence the minority groups require less or no control. I would rigid competitiveness in relationship of groups is due to industrial advancement and labour force become limited. That is, labour intensive methods are done away with.

With the intact of the Agrarian revolution, this indicated that labour intensive methods well very vital. However, with the rigidity competition of group relations, the minority groups control through paternalistic could not be easy. I would say the agrarian revolution relied on slavery due to demand for labour. However, the only means to maintain the source of labour without industrialization would be through a legit technique. As a result, the by law (De Jure) segregation was initiated. That is, a legit way to maintain labour force with exploitation through slavery. Basically, it would be right to say that the By law segregation limited the group relations rigid competition and maintained minority groups paternalistic control. However, the latter involve control of minority groups minus slavery.
