Experimental Article Review

The inferential statistics utilized by the researchers to research the first study were 280 participants, whereby 166 were female. For the second study, 257 participants were used to conduct the investigation and among them 170 were female. In the third study, 172 participants were chosen whereby 71 were female. In these study, an online survey was conducted. The results would then be generalized to the whole population.

In a broader sense, the results mean that those individuals who lived in the neighborhoods that had fast food restaurants had a reduced ability to savor. These individuals had a likelihood of reduced ability to derive happiness from other joyous moments. These people have also minimal attraction to natural emotional experiences. The results also indicated that the fast food did not affect happiness but rather reduced savoring. Lastly, fast food reduced positive emotions to melody. In the next experiment, researchers should conduct a study to determine how positive experiences are less likely to interfere with naturally occurring signs of time efficacy. Researchers should also determine the extent of savoring. The research relates in real life situations in that, when we sometimes in fast food restaurants, we become happy when we smell or see beautiful pictures.

From a personal perspective, one of the strength is that the researchers provided conclusions that were specific. Secondly, the results from the research can be duplicated or used for the generalization of the population. Despite the strengths, there were limitations that were exhibited from the experiment. One of the limitations is that the participants would provide information that might be biased. Secondly, I feel like the study was time consuming, since they had to conduct three studies that took time. The three criteria for causality are no spuriousness, priority of independent variable which is temporal and empirical association. The researchers utilized a good empirical association. This is because there was a good relationship between the dependent and the independent variable. The researchers also gave priority to the independent variables in the research. In the study design, researchers showed a genuine relationship between the variables, meaning the research was nonspruriousness.

The same four variable can be operationalized through using a scale of one to five to determine impatience instead of using the six questions. A pilot study would help operationalize the variables. In these research, an alternative way to manipulate the independent valuable was through embodiment.
