Fair-skinned girls film
In the film, fair-skinned girls are more likely to be picked to play leading roles rather than their darker-skinned counterparts. Dark-skinned girls are highly likely to be stuck with minor roles which in most cases relate to playing the “servant”. This can be reflected in Emma Watson’s words from 2016. She said she had declined to offer endorsements for items which “do not always reflect the diverse beauty of all women”. This has led to increased sales in skin enlightenment products as the masses scramble to achieve the ‘perfect’ skin. A leading role with an outrageous following equates to higher pay therefore more people in the film industry are striving to achieve the lighter complexion (Abraham 2017). In India for example, skin tone says a lot about a person. It also contributes to success in the ability to find a husband. Women are thus pressured to obtain a lighter shade to conform to societal expectations. This led to the Advertising Standards Council of India to do away with adverts that showed individuals having darker skin as inferior (Abraham 2017).
Most people believe the moon only appears during the night. The moon, however, appears every day except a few instances when seeing it will be difficult. This is the days when the moon is too close to the sun during the full moon phase or when approaching the new moon phase. In other days the moon appears in sync with the sun but the sun’s rays are blinding hence making it harder to see it with bare eyes. The use of telescopes enables the viewing of the moon. In other phases such as the half-moon, the moon becomes more visible. Due to a lack of knowledge, scientific explanations, people believe the moon appears only at night. The belief is supported by the fact that the visibility of the moon is clearer during the night (Gaherty 2009).
Countries worldwide, a sample of them, suffered massive effects from colonialization. Both the pros and cons. Most colonialists imposed the use of their language as a formal way of communicating. They established schools through which the learning was conducting while abolishing the use of the indigenous language used by the people they ruled over. Speaking fluent English for example by Australians was regarded as a major feat. People could, however, not speak using the accent used by the Americans and ended up with an indigenous version. Of late speaking American English as well as the Americans do enables one to be regarded with high esteem. The individual is deemed learned in the vast knowledge of the language. Basic indigenous English is, however, attributed to the preliminary language taught in schools with no high interest taken (Rademaker 2019).
People get raised differently according to the norms of their ethnic group. Parents raise their children with appropriate principles that more often than not children follow to the last bit. The problem, however, comes when relating with people of a different ethnic group. For example, a Hispanic parent may warn a child from associating with an African American child for purposes known to them. The child thus finds it difficult to communicate with another child from that ethnic affiliation due to the parent’s warnings. Some instances, however, occur from what people view in their daily life. An individual denying entrance to his work area to people of certain groups hinders other individuals’ perceptions of them. It then trickles down across people who might believe in what the earlier person thought of them. Relations between these two ethnic groups end up being constrained. Common misconceptions in the society about a specific ethnic group are also an adding factor (Gaskin 2015).
