Beyoncé, a well-known pop artist, actress and the founder and CEO of her music label, has had significant impacts on the millennial generation through her music, particularly to young girls and African American women. The famous musician has used her music to advocate for social justice, address political issues and challenges for gender equality for all. Through her lemonade album, Beyoncé managed to spark a conversation for black women encouraging them to heal from all forms of pain and be the queens they are. The album opened up a broader dialogue of the plights of black women, their inequalities in education, police brutality, among other issues facing black southern womanhood. Through the album, Beyoncé unites black girls from all backgrounds to represent the power of black women working together. Furthermore, Beyoncé is a wife and a mother, juggling her music career in the corporate world, her success in music and motherhood has been a big inspiration to young girls looking up to her. Beyoncé has also worked with philanthropic organizations through her charity named #BeyGoodProject. Through the charity, she has partnered with organizations such as Chime for Change and Global citizens to deal with particular issues facing women such as education, health and sanitation across the world. The artist has also showcased the work of other feminists such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (who has been at the forefront advocating for women’s rights and representing the African culture) in her song ‘Flawless.’ The interlude in the song encourages young girls to be more than just someone’s wife, to dare and be more successful in this world dominated by men. Beyoncé has redefined feminism in more ways than one and continues to expose the inner lives of black women through her music.
