Fighting Monarchy in Nepal
Nepal was a country accustomed to autocracy and, therefore, there was no deep democracy experienced as the monarchy was the same as a totalitarian state. There was the introduction of a democratic political system all parties agitating for Constitution Assembly in Nepal. Therefore, in fighting monarchy in Nepal, the formation of democratic parties were not only enough to fight monarchy in Nepal, but the civil society activism in Nepal made a more exceptional contribution to fighting monarchy in Nepal. The political movement that was formed through civil society activism which was called the “First People’ Movement” ended the monarchial panchayat system. It also led to the development of multiparty democracy and the constitutional monarchy in 1990. The second point is that the social activism in Nepal led to the rise of NGOs during 1990, which was a public associational revolution that geared up the fight against the monarchy in Nepal.
The “People ‘Movement” in Nepal was a multiparty movement which was the architect from civil society activism. During 1990, the People Movement brought an end to the monarchy in Nepal. It was a defined start of constitutional democracy in Nepal. The social theory activism geared up the unity between the different political parties in Nepal. Various communist parties were created which agitated for constitutional freedom in Nepal. For example, there was the formation of the United Left Front party as well as Nepali Congress (Rising Nepal). Therefore, the political parties formation were not solidly responsible for the fight against the monarchy in Nepal, but the civil society theory activism geared up fighting against the monarchy in Nepal.
