Functional Area of Focus
Functional areas are vital to the success of every business. They include human resources, accounting and finance, sales and marketing, productions and operations, customer service, legal department, information technology, and purchasing. Without these business departments, a company will not operate effectively, and also it will fail to implement its policies. This essay will focus on one of the functional areas in relation to the Executive Department Management Sheet as well as the SAW on human resources.
I chose to go with the functional area of sales and marketing, along with Human Resources. One of the reasons I chose this area is because I believe it is the key factor in the success of a business. I also chose sales and marketing because I wanted to provide myself with a challenge. I have worked in the other fields listed, but Sales and Marketing are both new for me. I do not have much experience, so it will advise me to step outside of my comfort zone and learn more about how imperative these two departments are, in order to have longevity as a business owner.
I decided to go with sales and marketing because I have learned through course study that marketing and sales increase potential customers, boost your sales and revenue, provide other companies with stiff competition, and boost your organization’s reputation. Furthermore, I am aware that technology has become the face of many successful organizations. Without the correct tools, your company can be left behind and can eventually go out of business. In order to be successful economically, a company has to utilize technology in terms of sales and marketing properly. I think it is essential for an organization to become familiar with the creation (innovation), as well as their potential customer base. The more knowledgeable and predictable this process becomes, the easier it will be for the organization to be able to forecast productions/products, accounting, financing, and manage the equipment for operational purposes.
I do not have much background experience in sales or marketing. I worked for AT&T for a few months in the sales department as a call center agent. We were required to offer and close deals on a certain amount of products per month. In regards to marketing, I do not have any personal experience with marketing at all. But I have learned over the years how imminent this department is. I have also enrolled in a few marketing courses. As for career experience, I do not have any within this field, and I feel like an Entrepreneur, I need to engage in this more to build my knowledge.
Marketing is the key to a successful business year after year. If your marketing campaign is weak, your business will not be able to stay afloat for long. Although it does matter how efficient or how well your product or service works, marketing that product or service to the right customer base will make the difference in sales, customer satisfaction, and revenue. Without marketing, there is no way for you to successfully increase your product’s sale, increase your customer base, or create longevity for the organization as a whole.
