There are individuals with different personalities and careers globally. Over the last few decades, the world has continually witnessed numerous developments in several sectors. These improvements and advancements are in areas such as communication, leadership, infrastructure, education, as well as technology. Of more significant impact is the advancement in technology. Through technological advancements, the globe has been transformed into a global village. However, such developments have come with their fair share of vices. Such problems include vices such as corruption and other economic crimes, political issues, climate change, civil unrest, conflict, as well as increased chances of diseases and natural calamities. Such problems have had severe negative influences on human lives. Several critical areas need to be focused on to minimize, prevent, or stop such issues from occurring. Among the essential needs of the world in this era of global interconnectedness is competent and ethical leadership, the kind of leadership that will focus not only on promotion of further development but also emphasizes the need to promote and preserve fairness, peace, love, and justice all over the world.

Ethical Global Leadership and My Specific Global Interconnectedness Goal

Good leadership is an integral part of global development. Leaders are tasked with several responsibilities, including proper planning, community empowerment, and ensuring justice and fairness in all situations (Park et al., 2018). Bad leadership can lead to poor development and several vices in society, such as corruption, criminal activities, and failure of communities, countries, and regions to reach their economic potential. Thus, the topic of leadership becomes incomplete without the mention of ethics. Ethics refers to the collection of moral principles, guidelines, and regulations which govern our behavior and associations in our daily lives. Ethical global leadership is a combination of good leadership practices and ethical guidelines to promote developments that have got a global impact. Through global ethical leadership, leaders and other individuals can transform the world on various fronts such as the spearheading of environmental conservation, ending corruption and other economic crimes, promotion of justice, as well as the adoption of sound policies that root for fairness in global development (Park et al., 2018).

Global interconnectedness is defined as the power to grasp and function in a progressively multiethnic, universal, yet interrelated setting (Gelegenis & Michalena, 2019). Through global interconnectedness, individuals learn and develop into prosperous professionals, civil leaders, knowledgeable people in a diverse and fast-changing local and universal society. People with global interconnection competencies properly show comprehension of the connections between different populations, socioeconomic and civil authority all over the world. Acknowledging the power and need for global interconnectedness, the United Nations has provided a seventeen-point list of global sustainable development goals, among which include good health, zero hunger, quality education, innovation, among others (Gelegenis & Michalena, 2019). As a global ethical leader, my specific goal would be to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions; this would contribute to the achievement of the UN’s goal number sixteen.

Link Between Business Ethics and Organizational Performance

Administrations have got different missions and vision statements that primarily guide and influence the way they operate and the strategies they implement. It should be noted that organizations have got different ambitions and strategic goals, and as such, they may have different codes of conduct. Business ethics may vary by every business firm, and they are mostly governed by the business environment (Goebel & Weißenberger, 2017). However, there could be situations in which specific organizations go against acceptable norms, breaking certain rules to gain a competitive advantage over others; this is not ethically acceptable.

Business performance is mainly dependent on ethics and the code of conduct synonymous with that particular business. Organizations have got a role to play, both to the internal and external environment. The success and performance of any organization largely depend on the relationships among its internal environment and external links (Goebel & Weißenberger, 2017). Ethics comes in better in relationships within and outside the organization. Of great importance are the ethical issues in human resource management. The essential functions of human resource managing in any given organization are employee hiring, training and capacity building, employee retention, and motivation. Ethical guidelines are supposed to be well incorporated in human resource management to get the whole process right (Goebel & Weißenberger, 2017). Employing competent and excellent employees significantly contributes to positive organizational performance. In situations where strong ethical guidelines do not guide the human resource management, the organization might end up hiring below-par employees, or practice unethical human resource management behaviors such as favoritism, employee mistreatment, among others; this automatically leads to poor organizational performance (Goebel & Weißenberger, 2017).

Additionally, ethical business behavior helps build a strong relationship between an organization and the external environment: – the consumers, government, and the immediate surrounding community (Goebel & Weißenberger, 2017). A robust external relationship will, in turn, contribute to god organization performance. However, in situations where the organization does not uphold and practice sound business ethical values, it can engage in malpractices such as corruption, and environmental mismanagement; this can be detrimental to organizational performance. Thus, good business ethics is critical to better organization performance. Promotion of peace, justice, and strong institutions is one global interconnectedness goal that is aimed at not only promoting the required ethics in organizations but also strengthening them and contributing to their success.

Cultural Features That Impact Leadership and Add to Global Leadership Efficiency

Culture incorporates the allowance of faith-based expectations, virtues, customs, language, and regulations (or rules of behavior) thought in like manner by a nation, a system, or other categorized assembly of persons. Communal cultural attributes comprise: the language verbally expressed in households, strict compliances, customs, adequate gender professions and careers, aesthetic, and recreation time benefits. Culture exists in various levels, from family levels to regional ones. Leadership, being universally considered as one of the critical tools in global development and organizational management, is greatly influenced by cultural factors. Different communities, countries, regions, and continents have got varying cultures; leadership is affected and dictated by various cultural elements. Global leadership effectiveness draws a lot of influence from cultural factors, the most critical ones being, religion, communication, and the culture of individualism and collectiveness.

Leadership and Religious Culture

There are numerous religious cultures all over the world. Among the most notable ones are Christianity and Islam. Leadership, at any given level, draws a lot of inspiration from religion. Leadership entails harmonizing all the available resources and organizing them in a manner that seeks to promote development and progress (Lingenfelter, 2019). On the other hand, religion provides important guidelines, especially from an ethical point of view. Such instructions are critical to the success of any leadership form. Through a region’s religious culture, global leaders can make informed decisions on various issues, drawing examples, and specific teachings from the religious cultures in those particular locations. Religion as a culture, roots for various ethical expectations of any leader.

Strong religious cultures in various regions worldwide have always kept leaders in check, demanding good leadership, justice, and fairness to everyone (Lingenfelter, 2019). Global leaders are called upon to exercise and promote equity and justice all over the world. As a global leader, one must consider all the demands and expectations of religion, especially on ethics in leadership. By incorporating the teachings from the various religious cultures, global leaders can achieve significant milestones in promoting justice, fairness, and the realization of proper agenda for every individual in the world (Lingenfelter, 2019).

Leadership and Communication Culture

Communication is a crucial part of leadership. Communication entails the passage of information between parties, and the sufficient understanding of the particular information shared (Johnson, & Hackman, 2018). Through technological advancements, especially in communication, the world has been transformed into a global village; this has made global leadership a necessity. Communication is not just a cultural factor; it is also a basis on which culture spreads (Johnson, & Hackman, 2018). Thus it is an important cultural factor that positively impacts global leadership. A global leader has to understand the different forms of communication in various cultures. As a result of technological advancements across the sphere, globalization has also become a culture that should be embraced by everybody (Johnson, & Hackman, 2018). Communication is a critical factor in globalization, and as such, leaders are called upon to recognize the importance of communication as a cultural factor. Through effective communication, individuals can share ideas and essential information globally; leaders can successfully channel their thoughts, ambitions, and guidelines to everyone and every institution worldwide (Johnson, & Hackman, 2018). Thus, communication as a cultural factor is critical to global leadership effectiveness.

Leadership and The Culture of Collectiveness and Individualism

Collectiveness and individualism is a vital cultural factor that affects eldership. While individualism refers to personal gains and responsibilities, collectiveness refers to a culture in which people work for the common good of everyone (Minkov et al., 2017). Cultures that root for collectiveness encourage individuals to mind their neighbors and fellow human beings. Global leadership is more concerned with the entire human race than individual effort. However, it is also vital to note the importance of personal brilliance and efforts towards global development. Thus, global leaders have to balance cultural issues on collectiveness and individualism and figure out how best each of the two can contribute to global interconnectedness (Minkov et al., 2017).

Analysis of Own Cultural Intelligence

A robust cultural intelligence is an essential aspect of effective leadership and management. As an aspiring global leader with a specific goal to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions, a robust cultural intelligence would go a long way toward achieving my goals. An individual’s cultural intelligence encompasses three components: physical, cognitive, and emotional (Darvishmotevali, Altinay & De Vita, 2018).

I believe that I have the required capacity to adapt to different cultural settings and localities in my mission to contribute to global leadership and interconnectedness. My actions and demeanor have continuously shown my ability to settle in multicultural environments. There are three critical physical factors in an individual’s cultural intelligence: the head, body, and heart, and their ability to work together; the three are crucial in gauging one’s relative strengths and weaknesses (Darvishmotevali, Altinay & De Vita, 2018).

I am also able to gauge my interactions and self-awareness. I have the power to develop self-awareness and control my behavior in different settings. Moreover, I have a strong ability to determine and control my thoughts and other cognitive elements in different cultures and environments. A strong cognitive capacity is essential for individuals, helping them develop good memories, strong problem-solving skills, strong attention in different settings (Darvishmotevali, Altinay & De Vita, 2018).

As an aspiring global leader, I have strong emotional intelligence. I can control my emotions in different settings. I can take full control of my emotional reactions to other people’s views and sentiments. I am also good at studying others’ emotions, feelings, and affections and respond accordingly. People who show strong emotional intelligence interact well with others, taking care not to harm them or take offense from the various ways of interactions (Darvishmotevali, Altinay & De Vita, 2018).

Recommend Steps to Achieve My Goal On Global Interconnectedness

The primary step to attaining the universal goal of interconnectedness would be seeking mentorship. Mentors are essential in guiding aspiring individuals in specific disciplines, such as leadership. Through mentorship, young and ambitious leaders become introduced to various tools, guidelines, and ideas essential in their leadership progress (Freeman Jr, & Kochan, 2019). Through mentorship programs, I will learn crucial tips in my line of profession. The second step would be to stay up to date with the current global developments. Aspiring global leaders are continually aware of the events within their surroundings and across the globe, and they seek to determine why and how certain things occur. As a global leader interested in contributing to global interconnectedness, keeping up to date with worldwide developments would give me a picture of the most pressing issues of global concern. A third and most critical recommended step would be education. Education and new skills learning equips one with a strong intellectual capacity to analyze and critically examine issues. One must learn various outstanding leadership complementing skills such as management, business writing, and communication (Freeman Jr, & Kochan, 2019).

Leadership is an essential part of global development. Ethics refers to what is morally upright or wrong. Ethical global leadership is a combination of good leadership practices and ethical guidelines to promote events that have got a global impact. Global interconnectedness is defined as the power to know and function in a progressively multiethnic, universal, yet interrelated setting. Good business ethics are essential for the success of any organization. Business ethics guides an organization’s internal and external relations. Some of the traditional issues that affect governance and add to universal governance efficacy are religion, communication, and the culture of collectiveness and individualism. As an aspiring worldwide leader with a precise aim on the promotion of peace, justice, and strong institutions, a robust cultural intelligence would go a long way in helping me achieve my goals. Among the vital steps needed to achieve my global interconnectedness goals are mentorship, education, and keeping up to date with both local and global developments.
