Graphic Design

Building a career is a difficult task and takes resilience and sacrifice. A job and a vocation are similarly as demanding as a career. However, a job is the least that an individual does in a bid to build their career or to support their vocation. Choosing a graphical design as a vocation was one of the most challenging decisions I ever made. The required time and studies required were an initial challenge, but I later made the decision. The main problem associated with graphical design is the competition in the field and the efforts needed before becoming an established graphical designer.

Making some decisions may have irreversible consequences in life. For example, the choice of a vocation may cost one their current job when it is already late. My decision to forego a job in a hotel was risky, but my passion for graphical design was convincing enough to take the risk. In “To Build a Fire” by Jack London, the man in the story makes a decision that costs them their life (London, 2007). The decision to light a fire under a tree is a wrong decision since a block of ice comes down and puts off the fire. The relationship between my choice and the man decides that the outcome of the decision is not known in advance (Dziobczenski & Person, 2017). However, I am determined and willing to make all the sacrifices required for success in my vocation (Arazy, Ortega, Yeo & Balila, 2015). The competition and efforts needed for the graphic design field are known in advance, and thus, an individual makes the necessary pre-arrangements.

In sum, the vocational choice as a graphical designer is associated with the risk of stiff competition and the requirement for extra efforts. Resilience and sacrifice are required for one to succeed in the field. Generally, my decision to forego a job in a hotel was risky, but my passion for graphical design was convincing enough to take the risk.
