Group Dynamics in the Healthcare sector
Adam, (2017), defines Group Dynamics in the Healthcare sector as the behaviors exhibited by people within the workplace environment. Health care stakeholders are faced with diverse patients, clinicians, and workforce, within the working environment. Drawing these people from different cultures, health care facilities have to ensure cohesion. A leader in health care facilities faces numerous challenges in incorporating the diverse workforce to form a standard unit. Feyes (2020) examines the changing demographics in the US and states that health care organizations have shifted to fit the new demographics. In his article, Meinert (2017) shows how numerous environments are faced with challenging employees and proposes ways of dealing with them. Udod & Racine (2017), show how diversity is used to achieve organizational success. Connectedly, this paper uses these four sources to establish how leaders can deal with diverse environments and challenging the workforce to achieve excellent performance in the healthcare system.
Meinert, (2017), states that the first tool towards dealing with challenging employees is to understand them, whereby a leader should learn their strengths and weaknesses. With the presence of a diverse workforce, understanding the employees plays a crucial role for leaders, who then use it to initiate measures that favor their employees. Feyes (2020) examines the role of leaders in promoting workplace culture. In his examination, he establishes that leaders can deal with challenging employees by understanding diversity by ensuring a common culture in the workplace environment.
Reviewing a company’s procedures and policies helps in solving problems arising from challenging employees (Meinert, (2017). To arrive at this decision, leaders must understand diversity, and the needs of the various groups in the workplace, as stated in, Udod & Racine, (2017). When leaders understand their workforce, they can change the policies to fit all the people within the organization.
In conclusion, healthcare organizations are faced with numerous challenges arising from diversity. Leaders in these organizations must understand their workforce and make policies that enhance performance. Finally, in solving poor performance associated with challenging employees, leaders must ensure a workplace culture, which must be followed by all the employees.
