Group Theory and Practice Course:

Setting up of a group in a particular manner affects many aspects of the group, like how efficiently the group members work together as well as the amount of knowledge they can share. Some of the main factors one would want to consider includes group composition, group size, open vs closed group, the group’s length, duration and frequency of meetings, as well as a place for the group sessions. Group composition can go a long way towards influencing how effectively student getting to achieve the learning goals of the project. Small groups with high diversity usually work more efficiently, as it is easier to coordinate schedules and efforts among fewer people. However, even though large groups tend to be having higher costs of coordination, they can theoretically accomplish more complex and larger projects. They’re also not a specific set of the relevant traits for group members, as this depends on the course, the group’s goals, the students, and nature the project may come.

One of the preparations I would provide to my group members includes the norms and rules, the expectations of the group, and the advantages that will be coming by satisfying the benefits. The pre-group meeting will be a way of setting up all these aspects. Some of the goals of the regroups preparation include the need to make all the necessary alliances, the interpersonal adjustments, the frustrations and expectations, rules and guideline, as well as faith and hope. There will also be interpersonal relationships and skills. It will indeed be a great opportunity of looking at not only what to expect, but also the potential frustrations that might be experienced. Such measures will go a long way in determining how the group members will interact with each other, therefore orienting the group members towards the group experience.
