Healthy People (HP) 2010

Healthy People (HP) 2010 is a resource that provides a strategic and comprehensive framework for the aim of promoting health. This is also aimed at preventing diseases in the United States and promoting wellness in society. Healthy people have created benchmarks for the topic with an aim at increasing and improving progress over time. This is to impact decisions and measures that build a healthy society and nation in general. This has also influenced the implementation of programs known as interventions—these prevention programs aimed at reducing health-related risks in the community. There exist three levels of prevention. For example, educating the community about safety measures insight of the coronavirus or immunizing the children against measles. For instance, my community has always been trained on the dangers of abortion. The main aim of this program is not to influence a decision but to provide people with information regarding abortion. Most healthcare institutions do not provide information about abortion since it is still a sore subject in the United States. People are therefore educated to inform and increase their knowledge. It is essential to note that this has highly decreased the number of deaths as a result of abortion.

The second level of prevention is known as secondary prevention. Secondary prevention reduces the impact of diseases that have already occurred. This is done by creating awareness and treating diseases as soon as they have occurred. This is done by initiating strategies aimed at preventing the further spread of the diseases. For example, exercising for older adults to avoid the additional chances of a heart attack occurring. Exercise has been associated with reduced rates of heart attacks-the community emphasizes the importance of heart attack and its contribution towards creating a healthier society. This is an example of secondary prevention measures. The third level of prevention is the tertiary level of prevention. This occurs after the spread and impact of the disease has already been witnessed by society. For example, in the case of cancer patients-these are people who have already felt the effects of the disease. What the community can do is enact laws aimed at supporting and encouraging them—for instance, creating support groups aimed at helping each other. My community has support groups aimed at helping alcoholics. They share their experiences and methods that promote and enable them to steer off alcohol. Support groups are targeted towards the recovery and care of an individual. Having a group of people sharing the same challenges can be an excellent, motivating factor towards recovery.

At the community level, the main impacting factor is heart-attack and the victims of alcohol. It is essential to note that heart attacks have been directly related to genetics and family history. Other factors cause heart attacks, including stress and anxiety. This is, however, an impacting issue in our community. Approximately 2 out of 10 households have a case of heart attacks and increased alcoholism. The primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of prevention have, however, facilitated the creation of a healthier community. This provides for an exercising ground in which people can improve their health conditions and reduce their risk of heart attacks. It provides for healthy living. Healthcare providers also offer information regarding alcoholism and heart attacks. Lastly, providing support groups for both alcoholics and heart attack patients. Support groups are an essential and vital step towards recovery. They aim at delivering reliable support for people with heart attacks and alcoholics. In essence, these preventive measures help create a better and healthier community.
