How to Apply Makeup
Makeup is used to enhance the natural appearance of a person or slightly increase attractiveness. Most women apply makeup to boost their confidence, while others use it as a way of expressing themselves by being creative.
Before applying makeup, it is essential to ensure that the skin is ready for makeup. The first step is to wash your face using a face cleanser to remove impurities from the skin. Exfoliating with a face scrub is another excellent way of cleansing your skin in preparation for applying makeup (Nilforoushzadeh et al, 2018). After washing and exfoliating the skin, apply a moisturizer to create a smooth base for the makeup. The moisturizer also ensures that the skin stays hydrated.
After ensuring that the skin is ready for applying makeup, apply a primer. The primer ensures that your makeup lasts longer, concealing pores, and balancing the redness of your skin. One is advised to choose a primer with a glowing finish if your skin is dry or a primer with a matte finish if the skin is oily.
The next step is to apply a foundation which ensures that the skin is smooth and of even complexion. Considering the coverage is crucial; a thin coverage is ideal for obtaining a natural look while full coverage is ideal for concealment of acne, and acne scars (Lam, & Sidle, 2019). Once you are done applying the foundation, use a concealer to cover blemishes and scars, conceal dark circles, and brighten the under-eye. Concealers can have a matte, radiant, or dewy finish, and it is crucial to consider your skin type before choosing a suitable finish.
Once done applying foundation and concealer, use a bronzer, highlighter, or blush to get a glowing or rosy tone. Bronzer gives an illusion of a sun-kissed glow, and a blush adds color to the cheeks. The bronzer, highlighter, or blush should be applied on the chin, nose, forehead, and cheeks because this is where the sun naturally hits your face.
When you are done with the face makeup, consider applying the eyes makeup. Here, you start by shaping and filling the eyebrows using an eye pencil. After shaping the eyebrows, dust-color the eyelids and follow up with a crease color and a highlighter along your brow bone. The final step in the eye makeup is to apply eyeliner and mascara on your eyelashes and waterline for an added definition.
Once done applying face and eye makeup, the final stage is to apply lip make up. Start by applying a lip-liner, which is designed to prevent lipstick from bleeding out or feathering. One should choose a lip liner that has the same shade as your lipstick. After applying the lip liner, go ahead and apply lipstick using the shade of your choice. When done with all these steps, spray your face with a setting spray in a T and X motion, and you will be good to go.
