Human and Sex Trafficking Rescue Center
Introduction
Human trafficking and sex trade is a primary concern for authorities. Surprisingly, some victims of sex trafficking as minors aged as low as seven years (Bickford, 2009). My passion is connected to the pain and suffering of the victims in the hands of their exploiters. The proposed rescue center for these victims will target current and potential human and sex trafficking victims intercepted while on transit, as well as those rescued from slavery and brothels. Setting up the rescue center is my major is of concern am passionate and interest about to address. The proposal seeks to obtain support and funding for setting up a rescue center to cater to the human and sex trafficking victims.
Analysis of Main the propose issue
The proposed rescue center will be registered as a nonprofit organization, and any profit, sponsorships, or donations from the organization will be cycles back to aid in achieving its mission. Furthering the cause of the rescue center will require a donation from well-wishers and fundraising events. Later, the center will engage in income-generating activities, mainly farming, to generate additional income to run the institute (Dolnicar, & Lazarevski, 2009). The proposed rescue center will fall under charitable organizations because it the most appropriate type to foster this cause. These organizations, as classified by Internal Revenue Services (IRS), qualifies as a nonprofit entity under 501(c)3 status, which tax-exempt (Mancuso, 2017). The 501(c)3 status will be gained by filling and submitting form 1023 with IRS for approval.
Our mission will be to provide life-sustaining services to victims rescued from human trafficking and sex trade. In achieving the task, the organization will engage in rescuing girls and women from brothels and slavery. It will then provide educational and vocational training to make self-sustaining in life before they are released back to society. Spiritual growth is also part of the activities to be offered by the organizations. The organization will undertake specific activities to raise funds to support its cause. These activities are sponsorships and donations from the government in the form of grants, foundations, corporate bodies, NGOs, and individuals. The center will also engage in fundraising events such as concerts, biking race, marathon running, football tournaments, and so forth. Later on, the center will engage in farming and related income-generating activities to raise funds. All these activities will be used to generate income related to the cause of the charity and will all qualify for tax-exempt.
The center will apply for tax-exempt status because its operations are not for making profit but rather for the greater good. It is common practice for the profit-making companies to file annual returns to the IRS using corporate firms 1120 and form 1120. However, after applying and gaining tax-exempt status, it will file an annual tax return using a nonprofit tax form 990 as required by the IRS (Mancuso, 2017). In particular, form 990 or 990-EZ is used by a tax-exempt organization to file their annual returns. The tax return will be filed by an accountant to be appointed by the board of management to oversee the financial matters.
The board members will be tasked with the handling of significant decisions, including fundraising, finding volunteers, and hiring employees. Besides developing and approving the budget, the board will also supervise fundraising events and activities to ensure they comply with the mission and existing regulations (Bryce, 2017). However, day to day operations will be run by the chief executive officer and will be assisted by middle level and junior employees.
Conclusion
The proposal seeks to obtain support and funding for setting up a rescue center to cater to the human and sex trafficking victims. The rescue center for these victims is my major issue of concern. My passion for this issue is attributable to the pain and suffering of the victims in the hands of their masters. The center will be registered as a nonprofit organization under the 501(c)3 status to qualify for tax-exempt. The mission of the organization is to provide life-sustaining services to victims rescued from human trafficking and sex trade. It will engage in multiple activities and events to raise funds to support the mission and objectives of the rescue center.
