Humanity in time of crisis
Alok Pandey a NDTV news reporter from Uttar Pradesh posted a 20 seciind video on his Twitter handle a video of municipal workers carrying a body a man who collapsed in front to the district police office while the police officers were standing and watching. The video was disturbing as they packed them in a polythene bag and threw him in a garbage truck. The police reported that they were afraid because of the fear of that the person was suffering from coronavirus. Still the municipal workers should have PPE kits while disposing off the body. District Administration had suspended three cops and four municipal workers. Dev Ranjan Verma who is the Superintendent of police, expressed how shocked he was by the incident and has issued a warning for the police personnel and has decided to conduct lesson on sensitivity for the police officers. Many responded to image by communalizing the issue that the identified person was Muslim a 42 years old Mohammed Anwar from Sahzora village.
A user @nishantpant_in tweeted,’ Does this happen in China, US, UK, Germany or any other developed country?? But then post 2014 we have always compared ourselves to Pakistan, so where is the issue???’ while a person sarcastically responded that no such an incident never happens even in Pakistan. Balrampur Police were criticized for their actions, another twitter user @relax_bhai retweeted to Alok Pandey,’ Astaghfirullah. How people allow this. Thoda toh insaniyat rakho May Almighty have mercy on him and forgive him.’ He asked the people to show be human and may God have mercy on his soul. This has made us question our humanity in the times of crisis. Do we forget to act as humans and has this disease broken our spirits too that even the ambulance denied to take this this man to the burial ground that he collapsed in front of the hospital.
