Re: Importance of Lifelong Learning
. Education is an essential aspect of society, and every individual has a right to acquire training to better their quality of life. Through education, one can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable them to handles issues better on their own. Through education, one learns skills that make them employable and live a productive social life (Cohen et al., 2014). Due to the importance of education, it is encouraged that one should be allowed the chance to learn no matter their age or background, which is termed as lifelong learning. The community should come together and encourage people to get educated so that their quality of life can be improved.
As a community college, we have to improve the lives of those in the community by offering them quality education and a chance to pursue their goals. In today’s economic world, their academic report is a requirement for one to get employed, and if one does not have the academic qualifications required, they cannot get a good job (Cohen et al., 2014). That is why our institution, as the local community college, needs to encourage adult learning or lifelong learning so that people in the community can acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to make them employable.
It is appropriate for our institution in conjunction with other local agencies to become active partners in encouraging community education. As a community institution, we expect us to impact the community positively by enhancing their quality of life (Cohen et al., 2014). As an institution of higher learning at the heart of the community, it is our responsibility to strive to serve the community by offering a variety of opportunities for the local adults to pursue lifelong learning, which will improve their lives. Also, apart from educating the locals as an institution, it is vital to conduct community services focused on improving the state of the community. Through community service, the community’s environment will be enhanced, and locals get to learn how they can make better life choices through counseling and the creation of awareness on matters affecting the community.
Everyone who feels the need to continue with education, even when they are past the age of a regular student, should be given a chance to do so. It is our duty and other local agencies to ensure that the community we operate in is improved by providing the locals with the required knowledge and skills to better their lives, which can be done through education. It is essential for you as leaders to encourage the institution to offer a lifelong learning opportunity to those who are willing to undertake adult education to improve their lives.
