In Israel, Protesters Demonstrate Against Floyd Killing, June 2, 2020.
Over 200 Israeli Protesters took to the streets in TEL AVIV to condemn the Killing of Black American, George Floyd. The protesters held posters outside the United States offices reading, “I can’t breathe” and “Black lives matter”. The protests erupted after a video went viral, showing a white police officer pinning down George Floyd with his knee on his neck for nine minutes until he died. I strongly support these protests because they advocate for justice and respect for humanity. Racism has no place in modern societies.
US Court Orders Iran, Syria Liable for Attacks in Israel, June 2, 2020.
The United States court has ordered that Iran or Syria must compensate any American killed in attacks by Palestine in Israel. Iran and Syria will be held responsible because they provide military support to the outlawed terrorist organization known as Palestinian jihadist and Hamas. Only recently, US veteran army officer was killed by a Palestinian jihadist in Israel. I firmly believe that the court ruling is aimed at reducing hostility between Palestine and Israel which, in turn, will bring unity between the two countries.
World Bank: Palestinian Economy Could Shrink by 11%, June 1, 2020.
The economy of Palestine is likely to shrink in 2021 as a result of coronavirus pandemic. The Palestinian authorities have stated that they are already experiencing shaky finances and market volatility. The Israel and Palestine tension has further aggravated the problem by cutting off supplies from the neighbouring country. Insufficient labour has been experienced in most production centres with most people required to work from home. Therefore, I strongly believe that the government should reopen various sectors of the economy to prevent further economic crisis.
Yemen Aid Falls Short, Threatening Food and Health Programs, June 2, 2020.
The country of Yemen has been affected by years of war, diseases and hunger. International donors have stated that low funding by stakeholders has interfered with the distribution of food in the country. The coronavirus pandemic has further aggravated the problem because of low economic activity. Businesses have shut down, and many employees have been fired. In future, I hold the view that a considerable amount of financial resources should be allocated to fight hunger and war during the annual budget.
Officials Say Armed Men Killed Journalist in Southern Yemen, June 2, 2020.
Security officials said that one of the prominent journalists in Yemen was murdered in the southern port of Aden. Armed men opened fire on the video journalist and was later pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The death of the journalist was as a result of his contribution in exposing killings that were carried out by government forces to the people. In my opinion, it is a violation to kill any person for personal gain. Heavy punishment should be levelled to those who are found culpable.
