Industry Standard Certifications
All industries adhere to a set of standards in their operations. The purpose to industrial standards is to ensure that industries manufacture products consistently and seamlessly. For instance, industrial standards are what enable people to access information via mobile phones through calls and television broadcasting. There are multiple standards that affect every daily lives, and they are all important.
Standards, together with certifications are vital in manufacturing, selling, and consuming various components in the industrial infrastructure. Standards and certifications ensure that products from different manufacturers work together and meet specific environmental and safety requirements (Lorenz, Raven, & Blind, 2019). These requirements can be either for a particular market or a given region or country.
Standards undergo a formal development process. Standardization communities at a standard developing organization (SDO). Such as the international Organization for Standardization (ISO), are responsible for assessing the feasibility and effectiveness of a potential standard and developing it. Once the standard is accepted, SDO distributes and maintains it.
Like other industries, there are certification to IT operations. Although most people are uninformed about these certifications, it is essential to understand the technical skills a particular certification implies. Among the certifications that matter in IT are the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCIPT) (Wenzel, 2010). These certifications have unique requirements.
MCSE certification requires a one to two years of experience in designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network system. A passing mark on a test worth eight hundred and seventy-five dollars is another requirement of the certification. According to Payscale.com, an IT manager with the MCSE certification should earn an average of $77,000.
The minimum experience period for a MCITP certification is two years as an IT professional. The certification also requires a passing mark in one to five example, each costing $125. MCITP has twelve tracks and an IT specialist or a consultant with the certification earns a pay ranging from $47,000 to $70,000 (Wenzel, 2010). MCTS certification, on the other hand, requires a two years of experience in a troubleshooting specific technology. The salary range for MCTS professionals is not specified.
