Death is inevitable as it is a rite of passage in the human life. Death is the final stage of life. Hence if life is to be lived properly people must come into acceptance that one day they will die. Everyone must experience death whether a believer or not thus people should expect death. An exception may happen to those who will still be arrive when the Lord comes again as they will not experience death. However, people fear death but for believers they should not fear death. In accordance to Luke 33:43, Jesus Christ conquered death through his death and resurrection and that is why he was giving the thief hope and telling him that they will be together in paradise. Thus death, is way of Jesus taking for himself those who have faith in him. Hence death can be faced with peace.
Death comes in the nature physical, spiritual and eternal death. Physical death is the cessation of life in its bodily form. After physical death the body does not contain live thus it does. Physical death will happen to everyone whether a believer or not. However, in addition to physical death, there is the spiritual death which is the separation from God by someone. Then finally the eternal death which is the last stage of separation. When one experiences eternal death means they are gone forever and that is their end. However, believers may not experience eternal death as they are connected with Christ spiritually thus they will have eternal life. According to 2nd Corinthians 5:8, believers will be separated from their physical body but will be at home with the Lord. Thus, this is the eternal life which is life after death and has no end.
In conclusion, I have learnt about the nature of death and how it will affect believers and non-believers. However, the issue of soul sleeping is still not very clear to me. During the period one is dead and Christ has not yet come back again for Judgment where the soul of the dead body is. Hence this is the issue that needs further clarification for me as it is not clear.Student’s Name
