Intelligence test is used to determine the thinking capacity and problem-solving ability and skills of a child. In specific, achievement test measures what the child can recognize and what they can do. For example, verbal expressions, identification of an item around them when mentioned and the child’s reading skills. Moreover, intelligence tests measure general cognitive ability, and on the other hand, achievement tests assess what the child has learned. Culture-free test help in determining the intelligence of a person, mostly a child without depending on individual culture group. The culture-free test among children consists of pencil and paper questions, use of objects identification, completion of series, classifications completing designs. Good intelligence is not the same in all cultures since there are different views of what good intelligence is between the western countries and eastern countries.
The advantage of using college entrance exams is that they are fair and they give the people who deserve the chance. Secondly, an individual gets to compare themselves with others regarding their intellectual capacities. It also provides an individual with a platform to perform, and lastly, there is an opportunity for the student to select out several competition levels that suit their intellectual level. The disadvantages of using college entrance exams are that students may end up in confusion about their identity. Moreover, it leads to low awareness as many students rush for exams that are well known instead of competence. Lastly, not everybody is able to explore their full ability and may end up being not useful and unemployed.
There is a difference between reading and watching the assessment tests since the watching bring the clarity with it since it is practical as compared to reading which gives you the knowledge that is only theoretical. Also, when watching the assessment test, it is easier to distinguish the non-verbal expression of the child when answering the questions as compared to reading which may not provide you with them. It is convenient to watch as it allows for perfect examples of the issues involves as compared to reading.
