Interracial marriages go through a lot of criticism worldwide, and however rewarding it is broadening each other’s perspectives still experience difficulties. In reality, other people may talk negatively about interracial partners. Such partners should expect it to happen, and therefore, they should take these issues with empathy. One of the challenges of interracial marriages is derogatory comments in public, which is demeaning and lower their dignity in marriage. Some may even end up divorcing. I have a high opinion of interracial marriages and cannot stand someone talking ill about them.
If my friend makes such a derogative comment, I should question her statement in a reprimanding way, ask her why she made such a comment. She has to know that it’s very uncalled for, and she should make apologies to the partners. Though this may stir tension between the two of us, it is worth taking a chance because such behavior is ill-mannered, and she should not do that again. However, not responding at all can be a way of making her feel like she was not supposed to make such a comment and maybe later tell her that what she said was wrong. She should understand that there is nothing wrong with marrying a person from a different race and that they should be treated with love and respect, just like any other couple. I would ask her how she would feel if someone commented about her and his partner.
However, homosexuality is against my moral upbringing, and I suppose my friends’ too. Should my friend make such a comment that defames the couple, I will not support her because it is not right to shout words that lower the couple’s public image, lack of etiquette, and corrected.
