Intimate partner violence (IPV) is described as psychological harm, physical abuse, stalking and sexual violence that is done by a spouse or former or current partner the problem is spreading very fast and affecting millions of Americans, especially the women. It is essential to have specific terms to talk about violence because it helps in identifying abusive behaviours, build awareness and also the right actions are taken to prevent harm in the community who mostly are neighbours, family, coworkers or friends. There is no difference between violence in an intimate relationship and towards a family because they both include physical abuse, sexual and also emotional.

In collages, rape culture is described as a relentless cycle that has to remain prevalent, and it involves male violence and aggression towards women, especially sexual. On-campus, partner violence as violence that occurs in a romantic relationship, and it is evident that in most colleges, the cases are increasing, and students are suffering a lot. Partner violence also involves emotional abuse that can result in post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and chronic depression. On-campus, most students that are raped always known the person that did it, and it is described to be date rape. In school, violence and abuse should be handled with a lot of seriousness, and immediate action should be taken to those who abuse the rights of students.
