RE: INVITING THE AFRICA GROUP OF NEGOTIATORS ON CLIMATE CHANGE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE AFRICA CLIMATE CONVERSATIONS PODCAST.
I write to invite the Africa Group of Negotiators (AGN) on Climate Change lead negotiators to contribute to the Africa Climate Conversations weekly podcast.
My name is Sophie Mbugua, a Kenyan Independent environmental journalist, and the African Climate Conversation Podcast producer.
Africa Climate Conversations is a 30minutes weekly podcast dedicated to amplifying the untold African climate stories from the African perspectives. The podcast aims at highlighting not only how climate change is affecting the economies, communities, and ecosystems in Africa, but what is being done to adapt and mitigate against the effects. Additionally, ask how best nations can invest in home-based technologies, high young populations, and African common frameworks as well as financing.
One of the things I noted in 2015 when I first reported at the 21st Conference of the parties (COP21) is the missing knowledge on the African Climate position, what AGN is all about and the critical work the group undertakes among journalists. This impedes effective communication of the African climate narratives.
Therefore, I propose a collaboration between Africa Climate Conversations and AGN where your lead negotiators can appear as guests to discuss pertinent climate matter and reports by the group as well as the African position on climate matters.
For the next few weeks, I will be discussing Covid19 and Climate change effects in Africa. I propose an episode with an AGN lead negotiator to discuss what is at risk for Africa now that COP26 has been postponed and the AGN position given how critical 2020 is for climate and the effects climate and Covid19 poses to resilient growth.
I do look forward to hearing from you and a long-term working relationship to amplify African climate voices with your team.
