Jack Henderson: His main strengths are excellent interpersonal skills and job experience. Everybody sings his praises, which is a pointer to his superb relationship within the workplace.

He is to retire in three years, a clear indicator of his excellent job experience. On the contrary, he has no geographical exposure and knowledge of the Japanese market. He is also bound to retire in three years, making him unsuitable for a top leadership potion. Lastly, his spouse might not support the idea, so chances of him accepting the promotion are minimal.

Takeo Takanashi: His most outstanding strength is that he has a comprehensive knowledge of the Japanese market; he was born and raised and had been working there for eight years. He is also a performer, as indicated by his description as “the company star.” Takeo also has an educational qualification fit for the job. However, his major weakness is that he has limited managerial experience (three months).

Jane Yamaguchi: She has adequate leadership experience from the United States branch. She also has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Japanese market. Yamaguchi is also flexible and would not mind moving to Japan. The shortcomings facing her are family constraints and being over-ambitious.

She has a family who might not acknowledge the move.

Jacques Moine: He is the most outstanding candidate with the highest level of experience and qualifications. He is currently an international manager in Mexico. He has headed several company branches globally; hence, he is both an exemplary leader and performer. Despite having worked in many countries, his weakness is that he has never worked in the Asian market. Another shortcoming is that he has reached a comfort zone and would be unlikely to achieve maximum productivity in Japan.

The Best Candidate

The best candidate would be Takeo Takanashi. First, he is young, energetic, and very enthusiastic about his job “company star.” Besides, he has been with the company for eight years and has already earned a position as number two manager. He has been in the company for eight years, and his progress has been promising. Besides, he is already under-grooming, and from his track record, he is bound to become better. Takeo Takanashi also has a better knowledge and understanding of the Japanese market better than all three candidates. No family commitment ties him from performing. If selected, there will be no travel and adaptation phases. Besides, giving the promotion will motivate the other employees to perform better.
