Jesus and Creation
Q1: Jesus lived as an example to the people. He encouraged people to take care of the environment and do what God has instructed them to do. After God created a human being, he ordered them to go to fill the Earth and take care of everything that exists. By giving the order for the people to take care of everything in the World, God meant that they are all important to human life. In Jesus’ teachings, he sometimes talked about the environment, and ho people should take it as their responsibility to take care of the environment.
Q2: Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God in the beatitudes. He said that the Kingdom of God is for all as long as they repent their sins and seek God’s forgiveness. Jesus said that happy are those who are poor, for they shall have plenty in the Kingdom of God. Jesus also said that all the other living things have a share in the Kingdom of God. This means that God created the environment, and it should be well-taken care of.
Activity 2: Is God Green?
The creation stories of God can be read in the book of Genesis, Psalms, and Amos, among others. The creation stories describe the relationship that God initiated between human beings and the natural environment. In Genesis story of creation, God ordered human beings to take care of all the living and non-living things on the Earth.
This means that human beings were given the mandate to take care of the environment by planting trees, not killing the animals, and being responsible in every aspect of God’s creations. In the Psalms and Amos books in the bible, God is described to have the love for the environment for what He advises his people to take care of everything he created. God says that taking care of the natural environment is a way of worshipping Him, and that is one of the ways of strengthening the relationship between God and His creatures.
In the book of Matthew, and Mark, which are termed as the gospel books, there are many stories about God being the sole creator and his love to the natural world. Most of the gospel books talk about the life of Jesus Christ and how He inspired the world to live as per what God. In the bible, we have seen places where God has used the supernatural power to provide for the essential things like the time of manna, and Jesus feeding 5000 people with five baskets of bread. This means that God provides for the people irrespective of the natural disaster. During the time of disasters, God will always be there to provide. Sometimes the fixed laws of the Nation can be outdone by the supernatural power of God; therefore, the authorities to control the environment should always have the room for God.
From my point of view, I can say that God is green for many reasons. The first reason is that God created everything on the Earth and ordered people to go and fill it. God also sent his only son to look after us and show us the way. In many teachings in the Bible, God is described as a supernatural being that helped many people in different ways as a way of taking care of his people. With all those factors, God can be said to be green.
Activity 3: God and Creation
In the Psalms, Genesis, and Amos, God is described as unique, and some of his words indicated that human beings have the mandate to take care of everything in the Earth since they all belong to him. The bible says that in the beginning, the world was void, and God found it necessary to fill it. This means that everything on the Earth belongs to God. In Psalms and Amos, God is described as a supernatural being and to have made it clear that God has the control over everything he created.
In John 3:16, the bible talks about the Love of God to the human being by sending His beloved son. God sent Jesus to the Earth to teach people on how they should live in a manner they would not offend him. In the book of Colossians, the Earth is described as the work of God and it is the mandate of all people to take care of it. From this, we get to understand the incarnation. Jesus was brought to the people to make the human beings be upright in their ways towards God. From this perspective, we can say that God created human beings with a purpose, and the purpose was to be accomplished on Earth. That is why Jesus came so that we can have the abundant life and get reminded of what they are expected to observe.
Sometimes in my life, I feel like I am connected to God as His creator. Sometimes I remind myself that it is my responsibility to take care of everything that God created. Most of the times during my leisure time, I plant the trees, visit the poor, and even worship Him in different places. While doing this, I feel like it is my responsibility and feel like I am blessed. God has granted me the power to worship Him, and that is why I won’t get tired of taking care of His creatures. In short, I feel fine when doing God’s works.
Activity 4: Conserving the Environment
Conserving the environment is one of the primary things that God initiated when He was sending human beings to the Earth. For that reason, Christians should focus on conserving the environment in any place they are and at any time. Sometimes the science contradicts God’s work, but with all those challenges, Christians are encouraged not to lose hope in whatever they do as long as the conservation of the environment is concerned. Christians should have their ways to balance the Earthly things and the Gods work as a way of strengthening their eternal relationship.
