The human resource manager is the overseer of the human resource department, and insurers of the duties and functions carried out by the human resource team. The human resource department entails a collection of functions, including basic recruitment, payroll, union negotiation, benefits administration, and basic training (Foote & Robinson, 1999). Human resource managers are usually perceived as the link between a company’s management and employees as they offer consultation on strategic planning on matters concerning recruiting and interviewing new employees. As such, human resource managers are individuals responsible for motivating and attracting qualified personnel. They also play an important role in ensuring the success of adopted policies and practices in an organization (Friede et al., 2008).

Roles and responsibility of a human resource manager

  • Analyzes salary reports to determine compensation plan
  • Consults legal counsel so as to make sure that the policies comply with state and federal legislation
  • Recruits, interviews and selects successful employees for vacant positions
  • Conducts orientation for new employees to foster a positive attitude towards the goals and objectives of a company.
  • Advises the management concerning issues related to employers
  • Administers employee benefit programs like life and health insurance
  • Prepares budget needed for human operations
  • Coordinates management training for hiring, interviewing, safety, performance review, and sexual harassment.

Qualifications
